Bamboozle rarely sells out ever. Supposedly only 2 days have ever sold out, 1 in 2006 and 1 in 2007. This year doesn't look like it's going to sell out, so you got plenty of time to wait and see what other bands are announced.

i go to bamboozle based on a points system.....i need 16 points to go to a certain date. It's not a lot of points because i've gone to boozle's that i expected to be awful, and yet I still had a good time. Three points for a band thats awesome, amazing, i must see. Two points for a band i'd def want to see. 1 point for a band i'd consider checking out....so lets check the scale...
Hoodwinked
Bands Being Covered
Everclear = 2points
Sunny Day = 1point
Rage = 2points
Saves the day = 2points
Taylor Swift = 1point
No Doubt = 1point
I dont like ANY of the bands doing the covers.
So we're at 11 maybe 12 points.
Day 1
Paramore (i've still yet to see them..and i really like all their albums) = 3 points
Aquabats (again..ive yet to see them) = 3 points
Hanson = 1.5 points.
Linc's Special Guest = 1.5 point (typically someone good)
so we're at 9points. We still need help
Day 2
Weezer = 3 points
MGMT = 2points
Girl Talk = 1point
Piebald = 2points
OK GO = 2 points
Say Anything = 1 point
Matt & Kim = 1 point
12 points. So we're close.

Have you ever seen them live? I thought they were bad on CD... Shit then I had to see them open for a band, and I wanted to punch babies. Haha but no seriously.. If you have, and you liked them then its all good. Im not a big fan so maybe when I saw them live I just noticed all the BAD in their show. If you have not seen them, the screamer is good, but the first time I saw them open the singer was WAAAAAAY off. And the second time he was a little more on point. Just inconsistent

Against Me! is Gegen Mich (sp?). They translated their name into German.
Also, how is Piebald supposed to play We Are the Only Friends That We Have in its entirety in only 30 minutes?

And could someone explain the reasoning behind having bands playing under a different name? I mean if TBS played and I didn't know about it I'd be so mad. It doesn't make much sense to me. Plus these bands would bring in more people if they were announced

Can anyone who has gone before tell me if it's feasible to get from the Sony stage to the Skate and Surf stage in like 5 min? The two bands I want to see the most are back to back on different stages, trying to figure out if I need to choose between them!

I haven't been to Bamboozle in 3 years, but they released a map. The two stages are right next to each other. Better than the last time I was there - the two "main stages" were on the opposite ends of the parking lot from each other.

even though there's a general thread for this...i will still fulfill the duty of the "show reviews and set list" page and talk about the bands i saw.
First off, let me talk about Bamboozle in general and give it a grade too.......C. And in my eyes, this is a super harsh yet fair grade for this years festival. Lets discuss a few of the minor details that completely effected my experience (it should be noted that this is 5th time ive been to bamboozle). Lets toss away some of the basic complaints about there not being the same quality of bands as previous years, that's a normal complaint year in year out. The complaints i focus on are as follows...Parking $25 a day....Soda $4.75 a bottle...Beer $9.50...i dont care if this is due to the meadowlands or bamboozle, but either way its very disgraceful on all parts because its highway robbery. Also the layout for the festival was poor and small this year as well. I didn't like how the secondary stages were right behind the main stages, too close and im sure some bands didnt like playing with metal music in the background. And it was just flat out smaller....no MLB stuff, no Monster truck, im thinking less amusment attractions, and it wasn't the same super fun atompshere ive been used to. Add that with the fact that the undeniable fact that the festival cut back on bands, gave us a big fuck you with the hidden bands like "she cheats in cali" and "f the cupcake", which i might add is the biggest F up i've ever seen for af estival ( a band definitely cut out literally a day or two before the festival ). So add that with my personal complaints that Drake went SUPER long, forcing the festival to end late...and made me miss my train and led me to wait an extra hour to get home...leads to a C. Why not lower? Well the bands I saw were still great so they made up for it.
Bands I saw -
Four Year Strong = C.
FYS strong fans are pathetic and weak...that's what i learned. So many "pump up" songs that I'm not a fan of but sounded pretty okay to me...and yet only a few fans were running around. Really sad (this is going to be a common feature of my grades). Since i'm not a fan or familiar with much of the band I can only go by their stage presence and excitement, which was pretty spot on I think. The reasons I dont like the band was emphasized with their lack of creativeness in their song writing and no real lead presence. The grade is probably more a B-, but man COME ON FYS fans.
Pretty Reckless = D+.
Haha boy she sure had a LOT of energy (damnit, where's my sarcasm face). She walks out like she's hot shit and just holds the mic stand the whole time and thats it. The back up band, clearly a product of the label since they're mostly old guys, looked old...and boy this was just sad. The music doesn't make up for the lack of energy and clearly the crowd wasn't overly buying into it. Why a D+ then? She started to strip...so that kept me around haha.
Aquabats = A-.
This a SHOCKINGLY low grade from me, considering I had a GREAT time during the aquabats set, but i'm being honest and fair when judging them. Btw, here's a band i actually remember the set list...
- fashion zombies
- super rad
- lovers of loving love
- pizza day
- look at me im a winner
- suburban home (descendents cover)
- pool party
They were really fun. The songs were spot on...and I rather enjoyed the bit of the crabs coming on stage and the band killing them...that was really funny. Also, obviously as a ska/punk fan this was the only one of two bands all weekend that I had to enjoy...so they were awesome. The suburban home cover was AWESOME!!!! BEST SONG OF THE ENTIRE DAY!. haha NO one had any idea what song it was...i went fucking ape shit though. Why not an A or A+...the talking to crowd gags and jokes were dead to me and too repetitive...in fact usually i love when a band talks to the audience, but ti was too much, he could've fit one whole song instead of dragging bits out. The crowd was okay...a few ska kids, but man, it could've been better.
Against Me = B.
Too much new stuff. If i'm not mistaken, other than Dont Lose Touch, Pints of Guiness, all the songs were New Wave and new album, which isn't a bad thing..it's just, idk. They lacked the fun songs in my opinion. I was all geared up to starting and having my own pit for Against Me! but none of the songs (other than guiness) really made me want to do that. Boy were they great on stage though...i've never seen such intensity and care for a BIG band playing on a SMALL stage as a (for no reason) hidden band. Wtf were they a hidden band? Were they the only hidden band that decided to actually honor their contract, who knows. But the crowd seemed to enjoy it, i just wish there were more...but why would Against me fans play $70 to see one band for 30minutes.
Saves the Day = B.
Fuck you bamboozle kids, honestly. I hate you bamboozle kids. It's freakin saves the day playing IN their home town, and actually play a pretty solid set (AGAIN THEY ENDED WITH STUPID KALEIDOSCOPE, WHAT IS THEIR PROBLEM, a LAMEO ENDING)...but anyways, wow...what a pathetic weak crowd. They acted as if Saves the Day was the fray or something, they'd just stand there, and it was so hard to get any sort of pit going. the band was tight though.
SoCo = A.
Really great. The crowd really enjoyed it....they seemed so happy to be playing these songs and it was beautiful...someone tell me why Kesha and Drake played later than them in the day, makes no sense. A complaint about the crowd, again...SoCo isnt the Fray! You cant just stand there, and not even dance. I can't tell you how bitchy the girls in the crowds were at bamboozle, it was unbelievable...during Paramore I actually had to ask if I can start to dance and bounce around...i NEVER do that. But wow. Anyways I wish soco played Cavanaugh Park or Kissed a Drunk Girl as those are two my preferred soco songs, but still...im a man who enjoys his nostalgia.
Ke$ha = C.
This is where the bitchy crowd really came out to play....i wasnt really entrenched in the trenches, but Ive never seen so many angry girls leave a pit before...."this girl did this " or "ughh everyone stop touching me". Can we put a sign somewhere that says..at a GA event that features mostly rock/dance type music...kids will mostly jump or dance or mosh into you, and im sorry thats how concerts are. for the people who do not enjoy that style of music enjoyent can go in the back and just watch, go for it. Anyways...she's a ridiculous human being/artist, and haha D i n o s a U R a dinosaur is a great great song.
Paramore = A.
Other than the fact that Drake played 30minutes over his set (which is ridiculous...I dont know who's fault that was but Bamboozle, wtf), Paramore was everything I expected. The way they talked about doing bambooozle for so many years, and working their way up from smaller stages to now headlining was EXACTLLY the reason why I thought they were perfect headline material...this is their peak, this is their pinacle and I dont know what will beat this. They have SO much energy on stage and put on a perfect show. Nothing over the top, no real showmanship needed, just a solid show with HONEST enthusiasm. The crowd AGAIN, wtf....I cant believe i had to actually ask if im allowed to enjoy myself at a rock show...luckily i moved over to an area where dancing and moshing was allowed, so phew..thank goodness.
So yeah tomorrow's another day, my back is KILLING me....but overall not my best bamboozle experience

Domotime is right on with his reviews! I was able to catch most of the bands. Bullet For My Valentine and Paramour were the standouts for me. Worse band of the day had to be The Pretty Reckless. Just like Domo said, Taylor had no stage presence at all, and the old guys backing her didn't do her any justice. I think one of them might even be her Dad.lol. Can you say BORING? And when she started undressing I quickly reminded myself she is underage!.lol.
So I'm Looking forward to going again today.Many good bands playing!

i went to bamboozle and had a pretty good time, weren't a lot of bands i wanted to see but it was fun. for one tho, 25 DOLLARS FOR PARKING! that's stupid but whatever.
First band i saw was dirt nasty and he killed it. met him before and was really cool, played all may favorite songs and handed out a ton of free stuff, even his new album. He was prob the best act of the day.
i sat thorugh of mice and men waiting for we came as romans and holy shit do they suck.
we came as romans were awesome. ton of energy, vocals were good suprisingly.
asking alexandria were next. their vocalist kinda sucked. every time he started singing his voice cracked, it was pretty funny. pits were good. i didn;t see any assholes really.
next i saw chiodos and they weren't bad. its just not the same without craig.
i saw the last bit of kesha and she had dirt nasty on stage with her which was awesome.
and then after waiting way too long for drake to finish up, paramore came on. they were really good and had some cool jamming too.
besides spending too much money on drinks and parking which i expected tho, i had a lot of fun.
and one more thing, what the hell was up with the lack of merch. like no bands had any merch. that was weird
drake set list? i didnt get to go because of AP exam on monday :(

can't believe i thought i was bummed about missing bamboozle after reading that.
i mean listen....there wasn't any bands that i thought performed bad (except pretty reckless). A lot of bands sounded really tight, tried to be enthusiastic, but got nothing from the crowd. The crowd was the big failure, so you might've still enjoyed yourself during some of the sets..it just gets annoying getting yelled at by bitchy girls for moshing.

i mean listen....there wasn't any bands that i thought performed bad (except pretty reckless). A lot of bands sounded really tight, tried to be enthusiastic, but got nothing from the crowd. The crowd was the big failure, so you might've still enjoyed yourself during some of the sets..it just gets annoying getting yelled at by bitchy girls for moshing.
this might sound kinda shitty for the bands, but i can't enjoy a show if the crowd sucks. no matter how amazing the band is live, i can't fully enjoy them if the crowd is awful.

What the fuck...Jerry from Of Mice & Men was fucking terrible...his seems to know LESS lyrics than he did on The Emptiness Tour! Like wow, I learned the lyrics to all of their songs in like, two weeks? He's had over two months now and STILL doesn't barely knows them...he didn't even say anything during most of Second & Sebring! Like wowww.

and one more thing, what the hell was up with the lack of merch. like no bands had any merch. that was weird
My guess is because they would have had to give Bamboozle 25% of their profit.. not sure if that is the norm. But, I read a few tweets with bands complaining about that.

Hmmmm. This event doesn't sound worth the money at all. Like, I'm sure you all had fun, but the way everyone keeps bitching about typical festival-type standards and scenarios (i.e. expensive drinks, stupid crowd, etc), you all basically sound twelve. I'm not any better; I complain. But no one forced you to fork over a ridiculous amount of money to witness/stand through something you were only going to complain about, while going into it with what I would assume as some sort of prior knowledge to what was going to happen, especially if you're writing in a message board about it. No one is forcing me to be an asshole, but I'm going to be one anyway I guess. I appreciate the reviews and observations, all the same. Thank you.

even though there's a general thread for this...i will still fulfill the duty of the "show reviews and set list" page and talk about the bands i saw.
Aquabats = A-.
SoCo = A.
Paramore = A.

I am not a good writer, and am not pretending as if it was well written.....
And perhaps you were on a different side than me but I was expecting a much more 'nuts' crowd. I thought "wasting time" was going to be a huge circle pit song, and yet I was the only one doing anything, and I'm not a FYS fan.
When I go to a concert I definitely care about whether or not the crowd is moving around instead of listening to the band performing onstage. I pay upwards of $60 just to watch idiots run around in a circle or jump up and down and factor that into the performance of the 4-5 guys onstage.

I think this year, it just felt like a completely different vibe. Bamboozle is no longer a Warped Tour on steroids type event but it's more of a general-interest popular music festival. You'll notice that there are less and less "scene" bands playing the main stage with the likes of Kesha, Drake, Minus The Bear, Mutemath, MGMT, Ok Go, etc. being main acts. Not sure if that's better or worse (depending on who you ask). As I grow older, I like the inclusion of more indie artists (seeing as we don't really have a Coachella East). However, if you're one of those people who gets frustrated by the crowd not being "crazy" enough for whatever the latest Four Year Strong circle-pit song is than, yeah, I see your point.

This was the first year I didn't get to go to Bamboozle, and I'm still pretty bummed about it. The sunday lineup was great, and saturday still had some solid acts. Each year I'm confused with the negative vibes from Absolutepunk on Bamboozle...I've always had a solid time, enjoyed myself and a decent chunk of the bands who played.

@ domotime2 - thanks for taking the time to write up your review of day 1 - did you make it to day 2? i had a great time at fys though - easily my favorite set of the day - liked the bands energy and i know the crowd didn't compare to a headlining show, but still fun.
title fight was great - lots of energy on stage, but bummer they played so early in the day, their crowd was pretty small. they opened with symmetry, played loud and clear, introvert, a couple others and closed with no one stays on top for ever and memorial field.
fys - awesome - not in order - sucks to be in fys, wasting time, on a saturday, gigawatt, bada bing, prepare to be dig man, and heroes.
relient k - easily the worst performance i saw day 1 - i realy like this band, but 4 of their 6 songs were new and the crowd was completely dead - pretty boring. they played who i am, forget and not slow down, don't need a soul, sahara, candlelight, and devastation and reform.
against me - very cool to see them play on a small stage - crowd pretty calm, but singer/band totally made up for it with the intense performance. since they were a "secret band" on a small stage crowd was smaller and i was right on the barrier to see them which was awesome. i would have liked to see more old stuff as well, but fun to see some new songs. not in order - high pressure low, don't lose touch, teenage anarchist (he said was a true story), pints of guiness, suffocation, new wave, white people, and thrash unreal.
STD - imo 90% of the crowd was great, 10% ridiculous. a girl actually punched me in the head, turned around and told her friend "i hate that guy". we were 5 people from the barrier, center stage, she wasn't watching the band, busy texting, and she was upset with me because i was dancing during the end???? anyway STD was great as always - awesome to see they with such a big hometown crowd - chris was smiling so much during the set. not in order - all star me, the end, radio, firefly, anywhere with you, holly hox, freakish, eulogy, at your funeral, shoulder to the wheel, kelidascope.
something corporate - amazing - andrew so high energy, at the piano, up from the piano, on top of the piano, playing piano with his feet at the end of if you c jordan - setlist in post above.
paramore - haley also full of energy - good set for 1st half, then we left - tired of standing all day.
day 2 -
fun - such a good time - i was impressed with how well their multi-instrument music came out live - singer, girl singer (also played guitar/keyboard), keyboard player (who also played trumpet), bassist, guitarist from steel train, drummer. they played wallking the dog, i wanna be, all the pretty girls, barlights, at least i'm not as sad.
polar bear club - high energy performance, crowd was a little lacking. lights of local eyes, burned out in a jar, another night on the rock, bug parade, boxes, living saints (and 1 or 2 more). met these guys after and they were really great - everyone should check them out at warped this summer.
motion city - good crowd, really into it, but had to leave half way through for say anything. - not in order - worker bee intro, future, favorite accident, her words destroyed my planet, life less ordinary, lgfuad, this is for real, attractive today, disappear, everything is all right (plus a couple more).
say anything - favorite performance of the festival by my favorite band. huge high energy crowd. glad to hear every man has a molly in setlist again. so good - setlist posted above.
matt & kim (1st half) - matt climbing set scaffolding to start set, kim standing on her drum set all the time to pump up crowd - so fun.
piebald (2nd half) - great reunion show - to answer questions how they fit playing their whole album in 30 minutes - they did shortened versions of some songs. lots of on stage antics - playing guitar on people's shoulders, singer into the crowd. they just put out a new dvd about the life of the band - i will have to check out.
kevin devine - such a good performer - love his voice - so pretty to yelling - loved their set. in order - cotton crush, i could be with anyone, carnival, another bag of bones, just stay, brother's blood.
girl talk - saw from far away - looked like a very fun dance party - i always feel like i am trying to play name that tune with his samples.
mgmt - sorry if you love them, but i found them boring.
weezer - amazing show - after say anything and fys my favorite set of the weekend. setlist posted above. rivers is such a good front man - spazing out on stage, playing all the classics and lots of new favorites.
great time all weekend - thanks for all the memories bamboozle, 363 days to recover until next year!

It was pretty good except for my body being totally fucking dead sunday from dancing so much saturday.
I guess I got alotta say, but Im not gonna because I dont wanna type all that.
Happy to see SkeetSkeet add that last Dubstep track to his set this year. I was hoping the entire set to see some dubstep, and FML I forgot what I was gonna say. What hotels did everyone stay at?

My guess is because they would have had to give Bamboozle 25% of their profit.. not sure if that is the norm. But, I read a few tweets with bands complaining about that.
oo that makes a lot sense

Pits aren't neceserily hardcore dancing, circle pits, or wall of deaths. Based on your assuming of pits, I'm guessing you listen too heavy music. I've seen pits to bands like RX Bandits and Reel Big Fish before.To be fair I listen to anything that I feel sounds good. I have STD's entire discog. I just have never listened and been like "Damn I wish I could skank right now". Maybe nod my head, jump up and down, and sing.
But perhaps my idea of a pit is skewed since most the shows I've ever been to involve the things you mentioned.
can someone give me the setlist of paramore and TDWP??
and did the word alive perform a song from their new upcoming album?

that was literally the dumbest thing I have ever read in my entire life, and I was at bamboozle.
i dont know if i would go that far, but i find it a little biased and can't see how FYS was a B-. they have some of the most intense fans i've ever seen, and their music just begs you to get involved with their set. other than that though i probably believe the rest.

for the kids debating whether saves the day should have pits or not, a little history lesson.... saves the day used to play with hardcore bands like bane and converge all the time, and PLENTY of older hardcore kids still go to saves the day shows. whenever std plays boston, hardcore kids come out and have their version of a good time to the set whenever old songs get broken out.

I took a few videos throughout the weekend: www.youtube.com/kmc724 (http://www.youtube.com/kmc724). Some are better quality than others.

piebald (2nd half) - great reunion show - to answer questions how they fit playing their whole album in 30 minutes - they did shortened versions of some songs. lots of on stage antics - playing guitar on people's shoulders, singer into the crowd. they just put out a new dvd about the life of the band - i will have to check out.
They also started 20 minutes early.

My photos of Bamboozle Days 1 and 2 are now all up @ www.future-breed.com
I did some interviews that will be featured in AMP Magazine, but I tossed a couple earlier ones (Paramore and Piebald) up on my site as well. Those ones were done for a quick "preview" piece of Bamboozle that AMP ran this last month, but only quotes about Bamboozle were printed. The full transcripts of the interviews are up on my site.
Feel free to check it all out @ www.future-breed.com

Yeah, Piebald started early and played every song but "It's Going to Get Worse Before It Gets Better." None of the songs were cut short. Easily my favorite set of the day.
The DVD has about an hour long documentary and then 41 songs from their final 2 shows.

it sucks that everyone, including myself, were standing around waiting to see F! the Cupcake...but what also sucks is that the band is still a mystery!!!
the suspense leading up the the festival was killing me, and now afterwards i still just want to know who the hell F! the Cupcake was!!!

I heard that TDWP had a lot of technical difficulties throughout their whole set and started 20 mins. late. So they only played like 4 songs.

well people have been saying it was supposed to be "we the kings"
BUT!
i believe that initially it was supposed to be someone bigger/better, and they dropped off...... so they decided to have we the kings be the surprise band last minute, and then for some reason or another like a day or two before the festival we the kings decided they weren't going to make it. dont contracts exist in the world of festivals

Part of me thinks that bamboozle threw in F the Cupecake and linc's acoustic guest for shits and giggles and there was never anyone actually scheduled to play.

Yea dude I was hella pissed. And then there were like 3 fights on the side I was on in the first song.. Fucking stupid shit. Alotta disrespect in the pit... I hate that shit.
Oh and I heard the special guest was suppose to be Limp Bizkit... Then on my friends twitter someone from Bamboozle (like a clothing person or something) said THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY DREAM COME TRUE, I CANT WAIT TO SE BIZKIT!!!... But then I guess they couldnt make it, cuz "Lincs Special Guest" wasnt even on the schedule anymore

I went to both days. I felt pretty out of place being 25 years old is a sea of teens, but it was still a good time. I won tickets to both days and also won access to one of those platforms (the z100 one) so I had a great view of Paramore, who were really great, as well as every other band playing that stage. The highlights for me were Paramore, Against Me!, Weezer, Ke$ha, MC Chris, MGMT, Something Corporate, and Saves the Day, although I saw a lot more. I DIDN'T EVEN SPEND A CENT, NOT EVEN ON PARKING. They let you bring in food but no drinks. I brought in Capri Suns and Hoagies, and was able to get clean bottles at the venue and filled them up with water provided by the medical tents. I guess being older makes you wiser where you have to spend money and where you don't. I also got a free t-shirt and vinyl (between the buried and me) from the victory records booth as well as many free shirts from others.
I was also one of the annoyed people waiting for F! the Cupcake. It made me miss the beginning of Bullet for my Valentine's set but whatever. Overall, I had a great time, clearly.

I am jealous you got to sit up there! I was looking up longingly wondering how I might get up, haha. I am also 25 and can sympathize with your feeling out of place. I was also left by my Hanson friends so I was alone for most of the day. But I still enjoyed it, loved Paramore's set! I even took on the pushy crowd to hold a decent spot, haha.

I was expecting them to, but in a way I'm glad they didn't. That is one song out of a sea of them and it's the one they're labeled with. It was good to go against the expectation I think.

but when you're playing a ransom show like the bamboozle, you know that 90% of the crowd is there for ONE song, and ONE song only. If you want to show of your new sound, new matieral, and that you're more than just one song, thats fine!.... but its pretty dick to not at least appease the crowd a bit.

I dunno, I can't blame them for not playing a song that the majority of the people who wanted to hear it, likely most of whom were still in kindergarten when it was popular, only like ironically and only wanted to hear to say they heard it. Especially when they're trying to represent their current music that isn't thirteen years old.
