Remember the 14-year-old girl who sued MySpace (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=146016) for getting sexually assaulted? Well, in an interesting turn of events, the 19-year-old guy who is accused of assaulting her is also suing MySpace (http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1207043,00.html) because the girl misrepresented her age on the website. His attorney says, "He's been, in effect, just as much a victim — if not more."

So im going to guess that girl had her age as 99 like most profiles do...so I think Im going to go rape a girl and sue myspace for damages. Damn those pictures of girls breasts with their hands covering their nipples

wow, they can both suck my balls for being idiots in every way.
her: for being a slut.
him: for following her lead and sueing myspace (a place for friends, not rape) for HIM RAPING a girl.
im so confused...HE is sueing myspace for...(sigh)...fuckign RAPING an underge girl.
man i hate this place.
a message to all the teenage girls out there: don't put your age as 18 (or higher) on myspace or facebook if that's not how old you are.
a message to all the guys out there: grow a brain and realize that not everyone on the internet is going to be entirely truthful on their profiles. if you're gonna troll for pussy on a network that's frequently abused, be prepared to deal with the consequences.
a message to myspace (and other social network sites): clean your shit up. when you make as much money as you do, you essentially have a big target painted on your forehead (especially when your primary audience is teenagers.)
a message to everyone: the party with the deepest pockets isn't always the one to blame

Wow crazy.
Just have to say: it's the internet. Don't hook up with people from Myspace.

the charge was sexual assualt, not rape. for all we know, they could've been making out and he grabbed her crotch (which considering the ages, would fall under that label). not that i'm defending the guy, but it is still "innocent until proven guilty" in this country (despite many people's best efforts to change that).

But yeah, sexual assault can be incredibly broad...basically any unwarrented touching (though I'm guessing this girl wanted touched) would fit the bill.
Obviously both of these cases will flop because of weakness...especially the 19 year old kids, because the excuse "She told me she was 18" doesn't hold up if you hook up with someone from the mall, school, etc...why would it via Myspace?

While I think both suits are really stupid, I agree that MySpace really has to make some change as to underage users. My brother is 15 and has his age listed as 21, as do most of his friends who are really young. It's about time that someone brings up something like this.

Because the mall doesn't say you have to be 14 to come inside. By setting an age limit on the website, they may be held responsible for not having the proper age verification standards set up.
That kid is fucked, however.

in the article it says that he admitted to having sex with her. still the charge is sexual assualt. i haven't seen the world rape metioned yet.

Is MySpace an actual company? Like is there a building for it with staff and everything or is it all just Tom sitting in his room on the computer? LOLOLOL. No but really, I'm very curious.

the article says the girl claimed that she was 15, when in fact, she was 14. so basically, i dont see anything in the guys argument.
p.s. i think the official quote of 2006 should be "MySpace wasn't there when they went to Whataburger. MySpace wasn't there when they went to the movie and MySpace wasn't there when they climbed in the backseat"

Fox bought MySpace for a shit load of money ($250 million, I think). I'm assuming it's more than a guy in a white t-shirt jerking off to Jenn! At the Disco's emo cleavage shots.

hmmm...good point. But I wonder how they verify that. They'd basically have to make it like 16 and go by driver's liscense or something...

but it's still your brother's responsibility to put his real age down.
heck, you can lie about your age anywhere.
the girl was stupid for meeting up with the guy [there must have been problems there in the first place], so myspace shouldn't be liable.

not everyone has a driver's license at 16. my current roommate as well as my roommate last year are both 20 and neither of them have drivers licenses.. so that isn't the best idea. i have no idea how they'd verify age. social security numbers? haha yah right.

That happened to one of my sisters "friends"
She was at a party (they were all in the 8th grade) and wanted to fuck two guys at once, fucked them both, went home thought she was pregnant and she told her mom she was raped by the two guys.
They got expelled from their schools and ruined their lives hahaha
Fucking kids, so gross.

who the fuck cares if she lied about her age? even if she was actually 15, not 13, having sex with her would still be disgusting and still be sexual assault, statuatory (sp) rape, and he would still be a pedophile. it's irrelevant that she lied about her age. people are fucking stupid.
