i'm thinking of going with a big muff. has anyone played the bass specific one? one of my friends uses a rat, and he's rec'd that one to me numerous times. i haven't been able to find one that doesn't lose a ton of bottom end in the mix. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't played a Big Muff myself but have definitely heard them and seen them around. It strikes me as more of a fuzz pedal than a distortion pedal so if that's the sound you are going for get one.

They make a bass specific Big Muff now? I had no idea.
I've been using my DigiTech Bass Driver for years now. Lots of sounds and the blend control lets you blend in some of your clean signal to you don't lose your low end.

I don't play, but as a listener, I like clean bass lines, so skip the pedal and get a few cases of beer instead :)

Make it something good and we're down.
If you ever play near Reading or Philly, let me know and I'll come by and buy you a pint.

so if you want big muff.. you dont care if its a fuzz pedal? cuz i thought big muff is a fuzz peda. you should get Wooly Manmoth by Zvex thats the best bass fuzz box out there man. for bass distortion/od try EHX bassball its really cheap and sounds good.

most of the distortion pedals have a low overdrive/fuzz option anyway. i'm looking for something that i can easily switch between some tastefull fuzz or balls out overdrive. i need something dynamic, so i don't have to spend money on two pedals. i'll give both of those a test drive.

The SansAmp is awesome for overdrive, but not for distortion or fuzz.

i used to run a rat through a sansamp, but they were both borrowed from a friend that i lived with at the time. it was a hell of a combo. i need to pick up a sansamp anyway for when i go into the studio. i bet running the big muff through the sansamp would sound incredible.
