Yes, it has taken me ages to finally getting around to listening to Illuminate, and now I absolutely love it.
Which bands sound similar? Educate me.

Pompeii.
Well, one reason I'm such a fan of Lydia is because they have created a very unique sound. However, if you like Lydia, I think you'd enjoy Umbrellas. "City Lights" is a good song to start with.

The entire Nothing Happens For A Reason album is just so damn good. The title track is beautiful.

Rookie of the Year, particularly Goodnight Moon. Really good CD and in the same vein as all the acts above.

I'm in complete agreement with Barcelona and Umbrellas, both incredible bands. Barcelona is phenomenal live, also.
In addition to those, a good few years back (when the AZ music scene was still thriving), there was a band called Goodbye Tomorrow. They self released a four song EP called Tied By Miles, you might be able to find it somewhere on the internet. If not, I can send it to you if you'd like. They did a couple demos with Mark Trombino too, which turned out great. They wound up getting signed to Equal Vision, and immediately following that, their singer quit and was replaced by Travis from Terminal. Things kept moving around, and the band somehow wound up with no remaining original members, so they changed their name to (also known today as) Alive In Wild Paint... another band I'd suggest to you. Not as good as GBT though.

Oh, and also, check out a band called Bear Hug. They're local in AZ as well.

well, they arent really all that similar, but they have the female and male vocals going on...she screams remedy
ANY band that strives to sound like Lydia are just as fucking lame AS Lydia.
Sappy, self loathing eargarbage.
