After the Brand New (http://www.absolutepunk.net/brandnew) show in Charlotte, Jesse announced that they would be opening for Dashboard Confessional (http://www.absolutepunk.net/dashboardconfessional) again in the fall.

i was under the impression they were going to have their own headlining tour in the fall.
i hate seated venues. and with dashboard, that's what's going to happen.

I think this is awesome, I can't wait. Dashboard always brings a great tour, MXPX, Brand New, Vendetta Red, Get Up Kids, Thrice, Say Anything...
Dashboard sells MILLIONS of records. Brand New hasn't sold ONE MILLION. This is going to be a large tour.. expect pit tickets (like always) to sell out in minutes.
I'm glad I saw Brand New twice this week do two 15-song-ish sets, mostly of Deja. But I will definitely get to this Dashboard show.

Srsly, this tour will most likely sell out due to Brandnew fans, not so much on DC's part. But still, they are two of my favorite bands, and Im pumped for this show.
Not really that impressive. I do think DC is on the decline. But those who are questioning, Chris and Jessy are really close friends. I remember last year or two years ago, Chis did a solo show and Jessy showed up randomly to play a few songs

Dashboard Confessional is far bigger than Brand New. Just because you like Brand New more than DC doesn't mean you can deny the obvious.
I like Dashboard a lot, and I like Brand New, but did Brand New have the theme song for Spiderman 2?
Come on, people.

however, if it is seated it might suck.

it's not whether or not brand new should open for dashboard, or dashboard should open for brand new...the fact is BOTH these bands are too big to be opening for anyone....if anything, they should do a co-headlining tour.

Man...this was such a boring show when I saw them together three years ago. It made me never want to see BN or Dashboard again. Sadly enough, amongst those two, MxPx and Vendetta Red, Vendetta Red was the only one that brought any energy. I will be skipping this one, even though I love BN recorded.
Also, you are all kidding yourselves if you think Brand New should co-headline with Dashboard, or that Dashboard should open for them. Dashboard's last album went gold, opened in the top 10 of the Billboard charts, killed on TRL and in radio airplay AND was critically acclaimed. Brand New was only the last one. The highest position on the billboard chart. Deja went to? 63. If you combined the sales of both Brand New full lengths, you still have less album sales than Dashboard's last album. So yeah, you are insane if you think Brand New should headline.

My guess is that this tour hits the places that DC isn't hitting on their summer tour with Say Anything. I'm going to see them in Pittsburgh on the 5th, but I'm crossing my fingers in the hopes that DC/Brand New comes to Cleveland on this fall tour since they aren't on these upcoming dates because...
Dashboard is awesome. Brand New is awesome. Brand New will still play at least an hour, I'm sure and there will only be one opening band to save room for long sets from both. If you look at the numbers, DC is bigger. Anyone who says otherwise must be blind. Dashboard had a Top 40 single not too long ago...

haha, you must be joking. i love brand new, they are my fave band, but if you think BN will be the reason (moreso than DC) that this tour sells out than you must be on something. although DC hasn't been around for awhile, the release of their new album will really propel all of Chris' fans back into action. i mean cmon, its DASHBOARD. i have all kinds of people coming into the store where i work, asking about the new cd. dashboard is mainstream and mainstream will flock to this tour like crazy. as much as i'd love for bn to headline over dc, its just a wish for now.

I agree with you completely. If they do it with one smaller opening act and brand new still plays a pretty decent length set then I will enjoy this tour a lot. Hopefully it hits Cleveland or Buffalo.

I'm siding with everyone being optimistic that reguardless who opens for who it's going to be a good show. If last night's Brand New show in Charlotte was any sort of indication of what their new stuff sounds like the new album is going to be amazing. Dashboard's really starting to shape into a great sounding band, Brand New's getting back to their stride and pretty much making a great comeback.
enough debate.

I was at that show and stayed the whole time. I didn't hear Jesse say any of that but that could have been because a drunk muscle guy started Serinading me (p.s. i'm a guy) during Play Crack The Sky.
It was crazy hot in there. I couldn't believe it when Jesse almost passed out from the heat. He looked like Hell after he fell down and walked off stage in the middle of the set momentarily.

wasn't mxpx on that tour when they opened for dashboard? Mxpx has been around a lot longer than either brand new or dashboard, but that doesn't make them more popular. just roll with it.

Yes it is
and yeah I've been calling this tour since...well okay only like a week ago when Chris said he was touring with someone he has toured with in the past and everyone wanted him to do it again
my prediction is that there will be 3 bands
the opener will play for 30 minutes
Brand New will play for 50
and Dash will play for 90

at any rate, unless this is a small club tour, i don't think i'll go see this, simply because tickets will likely be 28 bucks and up. that, and i'm seeing brand new again next week, so i won't complain if i don't get to see them on the dashboard tour.

ummm this will NOT be a small club tour considering the place I'm seeing Dash in july hold 3500 people and the fall tour is the bigger of the two tours....

Whether they "deserve" to be opening shows or not, they still sold out almost all their headlining shows after being nonexistent, which is more than I can say for Dashboard who hasn't sold out one show in Orlando. I love Dashboard, don't get me wrong, and I don't care who opens for whom, I just don't know if I would want to pay $30+ to see Brand New play a short set when it barely cost me that much to see them headline shows 2 days in a row combined. I've seen them with Dashboard and was real disappointed with the short set.
I'm still gonna go though. :D

I think that's cool - I remember when they toured together before, so maybe this time I can see the show. I mean, as big and popular as DC is, I think Brand New is a bit too popular to be an opener. Shit, every tour Brand New starts sells out every show, and DC doesn't have that going for them, as far as I know, so it's hard for me to believe that just because DC is more popular in terms of records sales and airplay that BN couldn't headline a big time tour. Either way, what the hell do I care? I like both bands, so I'm fuckin there.

1) the two orlando dashboard shows at HOB are sold out, have been for a bit now.
2) for everyone else on here this is very true, its brand new opening for dashboard, it will be an arena tour(dashboard has even said they will be doing an arena tour in the fall/winter with "friends of theirs that they have toured with before in the past" obviously we know now that its brand new(i was hoping it would be new found glory)
3) for this arena tour i am sure it will be more like brand new playing for 50-60 min while dashboard probably does an hour thirty.
4 I am a huge dashboard fan, i love them to death but i hate this new album, i think it blows. but with how much they have been pushing it, dont be suprised when its the #1 record the week it comes out. the record could still flop who knows? but it most likely will be #1 its first week and dashboard is much bigger as far as sales and popularity. I would say they are better too even if this record is lacking. example chris sings, jesse does his whisper sexy voice thing not really singing. and of course mike marsh seals the deal. Brand New put out two great albums no doubt about it but i think we put them on too high a pedistule, seriously they are not gods of rock the way they are discussed on these forums.
so yeah i am sure nobody will even get to this, this far in the forum but oh well

yeah i dont remember hearing that either and i was the only person leaning agains the stage (thank you off center crowd barrier) and it was definately freaky when he almost collapsed on stage. i think it was approximately 90 degrees in tremont. they got a fan set up in front of him after that though. maybe he said it after the show or something.
