I'm going to find a hard time liking this team anymore.... or at least not as much.
It's one thing to always suck a few years at baseball. It's another to have an organization that accepts losing and refuses to do anything about it.

his contract is becoming increasingly unattractive, especially since his power disappeared, clearly they need a starting pitcher and victorino could take his spot easily, with delucci becoming a good 4th outfielder
i read in a local paper that the two most attractive players as far as trade bait to teams are aaron rowand and jimmy rollins, for obvious reasons and also reasonable contracts...they could replace rowand with victorino but would need a shortstop in return for rollins, which wouldn't make sense, jimmy is not a true leadoff man either, the current lineup needs tinkering....i dont think either of them could bring an ace quality starter

a .481 slg is pretty good, considering last year he hit .474. He has 72 walks and an obp of .450. His power may be slipping, but at a rate where he can recover, and with his .450 obp, the phillies could use him more for a obp guy than a slg guy. his runs created per game is at 9.7 right now which is best in his career.
I would look into moving Bell, Rowand, Lieberthal, and Rollins over Abreu. trade for young prospects, pitching, and a guy who can actually lead-off.

i have a feeling this year's a wash, but next year, the lineup had better look something like this:
rf victorino
ss rollins
2nd utley
lf burrell or someone better
1st howard
6 rowand
7 or above new catcher
8 or above new third baseman
starters: hamels, wolf, myers, new guy,

i dont see them resigning wolf, especially not for the 9 million he is making this year, and lieber has another year left, unless they trade him
but i agree this year is a wash, i have a feeling ownership wont let gillick do anything, and next year he can get his own manager and play with all the money that is going to become available

lets face it, abreu isn't going anywhere. Burrell would be more likely to move.
Bell and Lieby are done this year.
The Phillies will have plent y of $$ to spend, lets see what happens.

oh, i was under the impression missing that time gave him another year. no big deal there. i'd even take lieber back as a 3 or 4 guy, but not if they think he can be their 1 or 2.
