Top Albums of 2009
1. John Mayer - Battle Studies
I waited all year for this album and it continues to get better with every listen.
2. Set Your Goals - This Will Be the Death Of Us
LOVE this album. "The Fallen..." is one of my all time favorite songs. Musically, lyrically, and sonically this album is amazing... and Joe has a killer bass tone goin brah.
3. Suicide Silence - No Time To Bleed
Crazy, frantic, heaviness and the best cover song (Alice In Chains - Them Bones) I've heard in years.
4. All American Rejects - When The World Comes Down
It came out at the end of 08 after I turned in last years list, but I have listened to it repeatedly throughout the year, their best album in my opinion.
5. Taylor Swift - Fearless (Platinum Edition)
This isn't a guilty pleasure for me, I freaking love this cd. Great pop music, wanna fight about it?
6. Silverstein - A Shipwreck In The Sand
I was worried when I heard the phrase "concept album" but they made their best album to date in my opinion. I love how great this record sounds and the diversity in the songs. High five.
7. Colbie Caillat - Breakthrough
More great pop music, a lot of growth song wise too. Was looking forward to this CD all year.
8. Brand New - Daisy
I wasn't a big fan of the last album, but after getting kicked in the teeth on the first listen of "Vices" I was speechless. The album flows in such different ways then the older ones and I love that about it.
9. Farewell - Run It Up the Flagpole
Great (real)Pop-Punk. Once you hear it you can't get it out of your head. ...should have recorded J.A.R. as a b-side though..... cough cough.
10. Brother Von Doom - Malice and Retribution EP & Relentless
Neither came out this year, but I came across Brother Von Doom in 09 and still can't keep them out of the rotation of my weird array of music.
I also listened to a lot of 30's and 40's singers (Vera Lynn, Julie London etc...) but they didn't put out any new albums this year...
And since it's Christmas time I think it's only right that I say the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Christmas Album (Have Yourself A Meaty Little Christmas) is the best Christmas album since Vince Guaraldi recorded music for the Charlie Brown Christmas Special.
