Here's the deal:
Deadline is 12 am on Wednesday.(EST)
For each player you get in the top five right, you get two points. From picks six through 14, you get one point. Pretty simple, although if you have any recommendations for rules, let me know, I'm open for changing them if someone has a better idea.
Prizes:
The person with the most points at the end will win a t-shirt of their favorite NBA basketball team.
Grand Prize:
If someone is able to pick all of the lottery right, they will get their choice of shoes from the sports store I work at.
Good luck guys!
EDIT: ALL ENTRIES MUST BE MADE HERE. IF IT'S NOT IN HERE, IT DOESN'T COUNT!

we are only picking the players in the order we think they will go, not the team order because of the trade possibilities, correct?

Usually the NBA draft isint this hard to figure out, but with all the trade talks and no legit no 1, or even a legit top 5, its hard to say anybody will get the lottery picks all right.

it isnt going to be the C's picking him I think ..it'll be the Bulls. I think the Duhon to C's will happen and they won't be picking until #16. I'm also banking on the Atlanta/Houston deal thats been reported (Atlanta drafts Roy and trades him to Houston for the rights to Shelden Williams and another player). Basically, trying to predict this is impossible and I'm doing so with those deals in mind because if they actually happen then I'll have a chance. Just ranking the best available talent in order is pointless because it'll never happen.
Tyrus Thomas is sliding though, according to a bunch of reports. If the C's held onto #7 and Thomas was gone, hopefully we'd be smart enough to go after a PG (Foye if he is still around or Williams). If we come out of the draft w/ D West at the point, we're not going to do very well. I love Delonte, but his abilities as a PG are limited.

how can you write darko off as a bust?
impressive if you can call that in the whole 20 minutes of playing time he's gotten in three seasons.
he was just drafted to a team that didn't need him. not his fault. he'll break out next season.

I wasn't calling Darko, a bust. I was comparing their type. Think about it. They're both European players that were projected high draft picks. Darko was taken before Wade and Carmelo at #2, Bargnani is going to be taken probably ahead of Foye and Gay. Darko got limited playing time and now he's going to do well on a new team..but he's NO Dwyane Wade or Carmelo Anthony, is he? I doubt Bargnani is going to be good as Rudy Gay or Randy Foye.
Never said Darko was a bust though.

ugh. john, john, john.
Do i need to go into my darko speech about how he would have led the league in Blocks had he had enough games to qualify for the statistics? or that he was a very, very good rebounder when he got to orlando and is an abosolute blocking machine and him and Dwight Howard can form the most formiddiable 4 and 5 in the eastern conference in a few years and that he was only 17 when he got here and had to learn a new language, laws, country, and culture as well as live up to the billing of being the 3rd pick and trying to find playing time behind Rasheed Wallace, Ben Wallace, and Antonio McDyess and that he's still only 20 or 21 with nothing but a bright future and is always improving? He's got the capability to be a great defensive PF and has the feet and array of moves to be a very effective scorer from the PF position.

you said Bargnani is going to be a bust and then said "Darko anyone?" which implies you think Darko's a bust. And why compare him to Wade or Carmelo? They play completely different positions.

Well I questioned it wrong, my mistake. And I'm not comparing their playing, I'm comparing their draft spots. Do you think Darko would have had such a shitty first year if he was on a team that actually let him play? My point was that Darko was taken too early. Detroit made a mistake.

Bargnani won't be a bust. He's already NBA ready, like Dirk was and Darko wasn't (which is why you see the Dirk comparisons and not Darko). The only player I think has more potential is Rudy Gay but he'll probably never reach it.

Nope. they didn't make a mistake. They don't win the NBA title and go to back to back Finals with Melo or Wade. They just don't. Taking melo or wade at 2 would just allow them to waste away on the bench as we already had Tayshaun at SF and Rip at SG. Plus, darko was understandably a project since he was only 17 when we got him. then getting Sheed was going to allow Darko to learn and get better without being thrown into the fire to lose his confidence. Now, his handling of playing time after we drafted him was questionable, but in my mind, the pick was a good one.

The only player I think has more potential is Rudy Gay but he'll probably never reach it. Everyone says he's the most fit for the NBA, I think he's a little too skinny when I look at him. He should get some more muscle on him or gain some weight at least. He's 6-9 and very lanky. Being tall and lanky worked for Villanueva though.

thing about still_life was that he was all stats. i don't think he was able to form an opinion of his own. he only went by numbers. and half the time he pulled out ridiculous stats that really meant nothing in the entire scheme of things.
not to mention the throwing out ridiculous statements like tom brady being overrated and shit like that.
and i took it personal when he turned his back on the steelers against the colts, but then after they won was right back claiming to be a steeler fan. that pissed me off. 'in the bag' my ass.

Update: Aldridge appears to be Toronto's selection if they keep the number one pick, the Charlotte Observer reports.
Recommendation: This appears no guarantee as Toronto is working the phones to try and trade down to take Italian pro Andrea Bargnani. The most likely scenario for a trade would be between Toronto and Portland. Portland would take Adam Morrison with the first pick. Then according to, the Arlington Daily Herald the Bulls would select Tyrus Thomas with the second pick. Charlotte would then select Rudy Gay or Brandon Roy with the third pick, and Toronto would select Bargnani with pick four.

i don't think sheldon williams is a top five pick.
caleb, what do you think of dials out of ohio state? think he'll get picked up in the second? he's worked out for almost every team.
he's a youngstown boy. i hope he gets picked up.
dials is tough, i doubt he is actually drafted, but i think he'll get some tryouts, and probably end up in the nbdl. i saw him play a couple of times this season and he looks alright.
speaking of the big ten, augustine from illinois could end up being a second round pick. the nets love him.

not to shoot you down. but the houston and atlanta trade rumors have been shot to the ground. it wont be happening. same with the bobcats and raptors trade.
Hmm, I hadn't heard. Either way, I think Bargnani will end up with the Raptors and Morrison will (or should) end up with the Bobcats. If Charlotte takes Gay over Morrison, it's a mistake because they need success NOW and Gay is the "upside" guy while Morrison could deliver, in my opinion, now. I think Gay will be good down the road; but will he want to stay with the Bobcats that long?
Also, it might not go down like the trades I posted earlier, but I think there will be some moving around in the lottery. Iverson might even switch hands tomorrow.

I'm skipping lunch tomorrow, at least until 3 so I can take my hour lunch to watch the draft at my work (working at a telecom company works cause I have access to offices with DVR+every channel, NBA TV+TNT=basketball blessing), or just head home then and watch it at home. NBA Draft is so damn fun to watch, especially if for some reason they have Charles Barkley doing it and he knows every fifth player announced and pretends to know the rest. Classy Sir Charles, classy.
