Copeland better play California. Show is gonna be so sweet either way. Really hope one of the shows is released in some format. Copeland is such a solid live band. Can't wait to see what kind of set they end up playing. Hoping for Should You Return which I don't think they've played live yet but I could be wrong. Would also be amazing to see them play The Suitcase Song, She Changes Your Mind, and When Finally Set Free

Im so excited about this tour. Not excited that copeland is breaking up, of course. Deas Vail is also one of my favorite bands right now, I could see them becoming the next Copeland.
I'd love to hear She Changes Your Mind, Suitcase, Your Love is a Fast Song, California, Brightest, Should you Return, and Grey Man.

I'm sure they'll change it up at some point on the tour. I'm massively jealous of the orlando kids. Those shows are going to be amazing. Almost wish I still lived there bc of those shows.

I'm holding out hope for a DVD from copeland (something they've never done) combining footage from those last two hometown shows.

I also wish they wouldve played Good Morning, Fire Eater and Choose The One Who Loves You More as they've never played them.
That was my 10th time seeing Copeland so I've seen them play most of their material, but I'm afraid Good Morning Fire Eater and Choose the One Who Loves You More will never be played :(

Person L's songs are longer and knowing that band, they probably added some jam sessions in there but I assume Deas Vail will play 6 or 7, I think it was 6 songs that they played on the Owl City tour.

Yeah I know, but being that this is the farewell tour and I consider those songs favorites and one of their best I'd love to see em before they go for good. I'm in no way saying I wouldn't be satisfied with that set though, it's amazing.

Yeah, that's understandable.

I was completely surprised they opened with Take Care. haven't heard that song live in 5 years.

The new song that Ace played right after "So I Finally..." was "Rosary" which is off the Australia EP. Wasn't expecting to hear that at all.

Tonight was amazing. I fought off the tears until "When Paula Sparks" was played then it was waterworks all the way until the end.

Edit: Oh and Person L didn't play " Goodness Gracious" tonight, it was "Canyonlands" instead.

I'm hopefully going to the Atlanta show, but it's 4 hours away from me so I don't know just yet if I can. I was gonna go to the Carrboro one but it sold out before I got tickets (and thank you atticusfinch for the post on here for the extra ticket! But I saw it too late and needed more than just one anyway). I wanna make sure Atlanta doesn't sell out before I get my tickets... but I can't buy them now just in case I can't go. For those from Atlanta/those who have seen Copeland a lot, when do you think I'd need to buy tickets for it?

Mass show was amazing.

It really was. That last note Aaron hit on You Have My Attention? Gave me chills! And earlier in the show he said he was losing his voice, you could not tell from that note, it was incredible.

Deas Vail was awesome, and the lead singer is incredibly nice, I talked to him for a bit before Copeland went on. The sound was incredibly off during ICMAM it seemed to me, anyone else think so? Just seemed like the bass was way too high. Other than that, real good show.

Try requesting it. When I saw them last october, the whole crowd started yelling "Shoreline!" and they looked uncomfortable and Wes said, "That's kind of a long song...." but headliner lead singer Dave Elkins of Mae was next to me in the audience and he yelled for "shoreline" to which I guess they understood to mean that they could play it. And they did. So good...

Can't wait for my turn to see this show.

Wish Copeland was playing "By My Side."

Really? I was there and thought their performance was phenomenal...one of their best. If you're expecting "cd-quality" sound, I don't think the TLA is the place for that. Plus, Copeland's recordings contain many effects and instruments (vocal effects/strings/horns/etc.) that may be difficult to reproduce in a live setting so maybe that's why you were disappointed...I don't know, I thought they were great!

If I have one complaint it's that Copeland's mix could have been better... I found the lead was almost completely drowned out by the other guitars. Maybe I'm an old man, but there is such thing as too loud... I want to be able to hear all the parts! Ok that's all.

yup.

last time I saw copeland they didn't stay to hang out afterwards, which was kinda disappointing, but this time they stayed. Be prepared in advance for a long wait though. The lines were like meet and greets for the Jonas Brothers.
Dammit. Usually I'll leave a set early to cut lines but that's not happening with this.
Maybe if I wait in the front of the line all day, I can catch them... Shoot. Thanks for the heads up though.

I was there too! I was standing about 15 feet to the right of where that guy fainted. Crazy stuff. I was right in the middle about 5 rows behind the front.

I was basically there for Copeland. Deas Vail sounded solid musically, but I'm only familiar with their 1st album, so their set did little for me. I'm not familiar with Person L or I Can Make a Mess... either, so it was kind of just whatever, ICMaM... piqued my interest. But Copeland was amazing. I agree, though, that the mix was pretty bad. It was at the point on the loudness scale where only the drums, bass, and voice are distinguishable, and that is not what I want with Copeland. I'd prefer to hear each part, including the guitar leads, etc.

Anyway, they did excellent, had a great setlist, and I talked to Aaron for a while.

Edit: I just looked at your profile and remembered I had listened to your Myspace stuff when you posted it a few weeks back, and I'm fairly positive I saw you to my right and up a little bit at the show.

Not according to the review I quoted...

Yeah, sorry. It was late and I thought you were talking about the Pittsburgh show. Maybe they did play it at that show from the article? I don't know, I wasn't there. The reviews weren't written very well or accurate about other things so who knows. Sorry again.

I was at the show on Saturday as well. I thought the set list was excellent, there really wasn't a song that I really wanted them to play that they didn't.

My biggest problem was the mix, it wasn't so bad when I went towards the back, but whenever Aaron hit a particularly high note, the sound started to wash out, and for a good portion of a few songs all I could hear were symbols and bass.

I was particularly impressed by the sets that Deas Vail and I Can Make A Mess... put on. I had never really listened to either buy I left with both albums DV was selling and I will be buying ICMaM's record when it comes out after listening to some of the tracks. Similarly, I Person L did absolutely nothing for me. I know I'm not the only one, but the only thing I thought when I saw Ken was "I wish The Starting Line was still making music."

I was to the left of the guy who fainted, I was kind of surprised he fainted at a show like this one, it wasn't overly warm in the building, you just have to take care of yourself when you are in there. It was cool when Ace stopped the show.

And I unfortunately was standing by the bros who kept shouting stuff at Ace when he was up. I like how he said they sounded like wrestlers haha.

haha yeah Ace was pretty entertaining up there. I really enjoyed his set. And I agree ... PersonL did nothing for me either. They were just sort of ... meh. If I had my way, Kenny would have gotten an acoustic guitar out and played "Best of Me" and "Ready" haha.

I agree. Hearing Love Affair would make my entire night.

i wanted to hear love affair so bad. i can't really complain about the set list because i love every song played, but i've seen them so many times and i just wanted to hear them play one of the closers (either hold nothing back or when you thought you'd never stand out), i'm safer on an airplane, don't slow down, love is a fast song, priceless, testing the strong ones (although i think i've heard it before..), and she changes your mind.

it would've been interesting to hear walking downtown, too. they had like another half hour they could've played at chicago.

such a great set, except for really rude drunk people that just kept shouting random thoughts or the wrong lyrics.

the merch was pretty dumb in my opinion. overpriced and bad designs, but oh well.

person l was so much better this tour than they were the tour with dangerous summer. such an awesome setlist too.

deas vail was awesome, just wish they played older stuff because i haven't listened to anything from them recently. they sounded much better than the other times i've seen them.

and i can make a mess... just wow. i've seen ace enders and a million... i left because it was SO boring, but mess was just incredible. second best of the night.

totally worth the 3 hour drive even though i have 3 exams today. wish i could see copeland one last time at cornerstone, but what can you do.

I'm actually quite surprised 'When You Thought You'd Never Stand Out' isn't the last song of their set every night just because of what Aaron Marsh said back in October of 2008 on a live forum chat here on Absolute Punk. Here's the exact question and answer:

Q:
'hope this question isn't a huge bummer, but if you were playing your last show tomorrow, which song would you play last and why?'

A:(from Aaron Marsh)
'I have never been asked this or even thought about it.
probably....
When you thought you'd never stand out

So yeah, I'm incredibly surprised to find out they aren't playing it, since it's their final tour.

I'm not really surprised he didn't end with that song. I don't know if you know this, but they let the fans vote for the set list. I'm going to guess they stuck directly to what got the most votes, but that's just me.

I went to the Chicago show back on 3/14/10. It was pretty freaking sweet if I do say so myself. I guess it helped that I wound up getting engaged when they played brightest! :) My fiance got down on one knee in the middle of the standing crowd and proposed. It was amazing! We told Aaron about it after the show and he thought it was the coolest thing ever! haha. Great night. I think my favorites were Deas Vail and Copeland. I wish I got to hear more from Deas Vail compared to the other opening bands, but I still loved the show overall. Like I said, Copeland was amazing. Definitely different from the albums, but I really enjoyed it. :)
