in my opinion that setlist blows.

actually, not so much "blows" as "well, this doesn't look quite fun". similar, but different.

What's wrong with Polar Bear Club, Every Time I Die, Fake Problems, or The Dillinger Escape Plan?

Yeah DEP is doing the whole tour, which in itself is pretty awesome. What have you heard from Polar Bear Club and Fake Problems?

i had a copy of burned things just disappear from a friend which was okay, but i lost it. i never got the chance to listen to it much.
fake problems:" born & raised" (which is kickass) and some song with "devil" in the title, which was alright.

PBC's Chasing Hamburg is an awesome record so if you get the chance, check that out.

2 good bands on the whole bill is not worth the ridiculous ticket price.

Remember '05, '06, fuck, even the '07 Warped tours?
When there used to be... um, BANDS? And not two douchebags onstage with a MacBook?
I am not paying almost $30 to attend a "music" festival where the only legitimate bands playing are the Swellers and Set Your Goals.
I am sorry Kevin, but get your fucking shit together and start inviting bands to come play again, instead of just hearing the first shitty pop band's demo to hit your desk and just inviting them and all their dumbshit neon-clad douchebag friends who suck just as bad, if not worse.

Are you sure you're not talking about this past year's line up? Plus those past line ups had it's fair share of shitty bands on their rosters too, get over yourself. Plus if you think the only legitimate bands on there are two pop punk bands, then you're really limiting yourself.

a bunch of superlative blanket statements, some of which are probably unfair.

Here's the difference between this year and years past... on those past tours, the shitty bands were the minority. Now it's the other way around... except the shitty "bands" this year aren't even truly bands, just kids with iPods whose talented is limited to hitting the PLAY button.
And if you recall, punk/pop-punk & ska were the foundation of this entire tour to begin with. To be fair, it should have never expanded to include the metalcore/crabcore/iPod-core/dancecore/douchecore buttshit that unfortunately now comprises 99.3% of the lineup. If not for the Swellers, Set Your Goals, Sum 41, ect., Warped Tour attendees would be paying $30+ to attend a festival that, at one time was advertised as "punk rock summer camp," is now basically a fucking dance party in a parking lot.

oh no. that is completely fair. but breathe carolina is only one band on the tour.
but there are a FEW more legit bands there than the swellers and set your goals.

Right because you were totally there for the first Warped Tour ever right? Dude, in case you never realized anything about the history of the tour, the bands that made up the tour every year was what was popular at the time in the scene. Punk has not been as popular among the majority of youth as it was in the 90's and since it does not seem like that's going to happen anytime soon, punk will not dominate the lineup any time soon. Like it or not, the people that run it have to make money so they're going to put those bands on there since they'll bring the crowds, that's how buisness works. Perhaps at one time it was the punk rock summer camp, now it's not. That's how the cookie crumbles.

In all fairness, they do have actual instruments on their 2nd CD and in their live show.

when i saw them live they, they lip synced. and they definitely had a backtrack for the instrumentals that they just had a drummer play along with and a random keytar guy and guitarist that played simple chords along with it.
so its not all that meets the eye...well i guess in this case it is. hmm

there are some good bands fr diff genres, mixed in with all the shitty ones
I'd see Emarosa, Enter shikari, Fight Fair, Mayday Parade, Motion City Soundtrack, Polar Bear Club, Set Your Goals, Sum 41, The Swellers, You Me At Six

i wish there was more real pop punk, or just real music in general. i liked when they had mixed band sin 07 like pepper and stuff.
but i guess 9 bands for me personally is ok, but i see why people are upset at the increasing trend of scene bands.
the shitty ones do ruin the crowd, due to their shitty fans that are there for the scene rather than the music.

Andrew WK and The Dillinger Escape Plan? Sounds like fun. Hopefully more bands that I actually care about are added, though, as I didn't care much for last year's line-up.

A couple observations I'd like to make, if you don't mind. For one thing, what makes a band with a MacBook not a real band? I'm not a fan of this whole "crunkcore" fad (although, as far as MacBook scene bands in general go, I actually don't mind Lights), but even if I can't stand them musically, is that enough to refuse to call them "bands"? Electronic music is a perfectly valid genre, just like anything else, even if some kids are doing it rather poorly in our eyes. There are kids in most, if not all, genres, that this could be said for.

Also, I find it ironic that you have the need to rant about annoying "neon-clad" bands and yet claim that Set Your Goals is one of the only legitimate groups announced so far. Are they really that far removed from this neon Hot Topic scene? I could be wrong, but something just doesn't seem to line up for me.

In my own opinion, nothing will ever top the greatness that was the '06 warped tour
The lineup is okay so far, it has potential to be as good or better than last year, '08 was a complete joke
Very excited about:
Alkaline Trio
Fake Problems
Set Your Goals
In Fear and Faith
The Swellers
Polar Bear Club
The Casualties
and some others

And because this is only the first list of bands announced, it can either get even better, or go downhill
