Mike Kaminsky - KMGMT (http://kmgmt.com/) (3OH!3, Meg & Dia, The Summer Set)

UNDER THE RADAR THINGS I AM EXCITED ABOUT IN 2010
I Fight Dragons - Probably the band Im most excited for. A bunch of nerds fusing video game sounds and equipment into great pop songs and a fun live show unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.

Places and Numbers - I managed Gatsbys American Dream (and still work with Kirk’s band Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground) and Bobby always impressed me with his uncharacteristic song writing. He’s coming back next year with an album he recorded around the world with Casey Bates – and it sounds nothing like Gatsbys.

Kapiro.com - Im really sick of ticket surcharges so me and my friend started this site a couple years ago to sell tickets with the cheapest possible surcharges possible. We mistakenly put a big emphasis on album/merch sales but it looks like people just really want cheap tickets, so we’re revamping the site to be more ticket-centric. Apologies for the self promotion but I do this one as a hobby (and the site actually costs us money to run), but hopefully we can do our little part to fight The Man. Big ticket surcharges are such a scam!

Florence and the Machine - My roommate was playing this on his record player downstairs at 2AM. It drifted upstairs and gave me good dreams all night. Honestly don’t know much about the band but Id like to think music this beautiful will prevail. The singer sounds a lot like Beth Gibbons of Portishead.

New music from Meg & Dia Frampton - I have to be purposely vague here but Im one of the priveleged few who have gotten to hear where this is going and Im excited. Lots of work to be done but being involved in this is one of the reasons I choose to work in the music industry.

Mike Posner - Real college hip hop for people who don’t necessarily love college.

Audrey Kawasaki - I saw my first Audrey painting at Skylight Books in Los Angeles where I live and was so awestruck I had to take a copy home with me. My collection has turned a bit into an obsession but shes painted some of my favorite portraits of all time and I love the fact that I can support a local artist, which I think is often overlooked in our entertainment industry.

Black Swan - The Fountain is one of my favorite films of all time and this upcoming film by Darren Aronofsky stars Natalie Portman. Sooo…best movie ever?

Feelin' Posner tons! I'm from Michigan and know a lot of his work. Also, really good friends with a couple of people in his crew. Great to see him on here!
