Poor Steve Phillips

On Baseball Tonight they were just talking about the minor league manager who threw that tirade yesterday. Steve Phillips said the manager should be fired and John Kruk called him a dumbie. He said something like "That's a stupid thing to say and would be a stupid decision to make. It's dumbies like you that make stupid decisions like underpaying your players." and things got really quiet while Kruk was talking and then Orel Herschiser said "Well, Steve Phillips isn't a dumbie..but he did underpay me when I was with the Mets."

Haha the one time I feel bad for Steve Phillips. I wonder if he will ever say something that's educated.

haha, we think alike. I just posted them talking about it in the MLB thread. the minor league manager got suspended 7 days and fined $1000.


I don't agree with steve phillips. He should get suspended but not fired. But i do understand his argument -- i just think it's wrong.

However, i like steve phillips as an analyst. I think he's articulate and says some insightful things. and when him, steve stone, and gary thorne doing day games on ESPN is great because they always rip on him for guys that he let get away that went on to great things.

Haha I like Steve Phillips, sometimes he's funny..but he says stupid things sometimes. I like Buster Olney. I despise John Kruk. Plus, Tino Martinez is horrible..he doesn't talk straight. He messes up his words like crazy.

mike and mike got phillips pretty good last week.

he made a comment about getting his hair cut by a guy named vinnie, trying to outman greeny. but the guy's name is vincent and never goes by vinnie, so they actually called him up on the show and asked if he lets phillips call him vinnie.

it was fucking hysterical. phillips wasn't even there to defend himself.

i don't mind phillips though. i've seen worse analysts.
