Agreed. This game was amazing. And when I d/l this I'll d/l some other great SNES games at the same time. That was such a great system.

Also a good one. My favorite part of that one is seeing Conker how he was originally intended - a friendly, high-pitched squirrel, haha.

I'm probably more excited for this than the new Zelda that is coming out, I fucking love the Donkey Kong Country series.

Probably, yeah. A few Zelda games give it a run for it's money though. I'm so excited for this new one coming out, I'm so happy that it's a side-scroller. DK64 was fun, but it just lacked a certain something that few games besides to first Donkey Kong Country had. The other two DK games for SNES were sort of lackluster.

I honestly felt like a 5-year old on Christmas morning when I heard they were not only making a new game but that Retro Studios was the team behind it. If anyone can make a deep and rich Donkey Kong experience, it's them. They've also announced that the game will support classic controls for those people -- like me -- who want to play with precision. The only negative thing I have seen/read is that King K.Rool won't be featured in the game. That is like having a Mario game without Bowswer and I thought even Retro would realize this. Who knows, maybe they are just stringing us along for a surprise towards the end of the game. Let's hope.

Does this video excite anyone else as much as me?

I have to disagree, respectfully of course. I don't feel like DKC:2 was anything less than stellar. That game is actually the biggest fan favorite of the series, it was a near perfect sequel. They boosted the difficulty, added much more to collect, and refined the controls to be a little bit more precise. The level design was also much better than the original DKC.

Even critics agree...

I'll admit that the third installment was somewhat of a let-down to most, for obvious reasons, but that was also a great game by any standards. DK64 was also a very good game but you're right, it didn't capture the atmosphere of the Donkey Kong Country series. It was just a larger scale Banjo-Kazooie with much more to collect. Sort of how Rare went from Goldeneye to Perfect Dark.

Either way, I can't wait for the return of DK. Do you think we should make a dedicated topic for the new title or keep the discussion in here? I think people might overlook a basic Donkey Kong Country heading not realizing there is a new game coming out.

As far as a new thread, go for it. And the other two, I still loved and played the crap out of them, there was just a certain something special about the first one that raised it above those to for me.
