View Full Version : I think I'm going to hell.

So a couple of years ago, a good friend of mine died as a result of a heroin overdose. Soon after, I find out that the reason he started getting into the drug is because this kid, named Scott, stuck a needle into his arm one night at a party. Earlier today I go on facebook and find out that this kid Scott died, and all I could think of was how happy I was that karma caught up to him and how he got what he deserved.

Am I going to hell?

That's a little horrible but it's understandable. I'd just feel bad that karma hit as far as death.

RIP to your friend and that kid Scott.

You didn't wish it on him, so I don't see how you should have any fear of anything. Things catch up with people after a while if they continue down a bad path, and unfortunately this is an example. RIP to both.

If this kid was shooting heroin into other kids at parties, he was pretty much guaranteed to eventually piss the wrong kind of people off...

Sounds like karma did its job. He deserved it anyways, so I don't think you will go to hell. RIP good friend & Scott

Ew. How often does this shooting of heroin into others arms occur...? Also, no. You're not going to hell. I'm really sorry about your friend, man.

Can people who don't follow Eastern/Indian religions stop using the term "karma" in place of an expression like "what goes around comes around"? If you believe in any of those religions, you don't believe in karma. Stop using the term.

I love when karma comes back around to the people that deserve it.

If you're going to hell for that, I for sure will be right there next to you.

EDIT: shoulda read the post above mine.

I don't think there are rules about following whatever you believe in. If you believe in most tenants of one religion, but believe in a tenant of another, I see no problem believing in aspects you want to believe in as long as they don't contradict each other. I don't think you need to police what aspects of religion people choose to adopt.

In the kindest way I could put it, you are a fucking dumbass.

If thoughts sent us to hell I would have condemned myself by the age of five. It's what you choose to act upon. Get real, are you serious?

And yeah, I'm putting this bluntly to help you feel better, I really am.

I was in a similar situation a few years ago. In high school, one of my friends started doing drugs and pressuring other friends to join him. I know he didn't physically inject a needle into anyone's arms, but I blame him for the state that a lot of my old best friends lives are in.

Fast forward two years from high school when he overdoses on heroin. I knew it was a tragedy, but I couldn't bring myself to feel bad about it. He was such a bad influence on so many people's lives, and I still think he had it coming.

So I guess what I'm saying is, if you're going to hell, I'll be waiting there for you with a tray of taco dip.

Yeah I know I'm not actually going to hell, since I don't believe such a place exists. The question I was really asking was "Am I a fucked up person?"

And I just found out that His roommate found him passed out on his apartment floor, and the kid was a user, so he most likely died from an overdose

Doesn't seem like discussing the existence or lack of existence (depending on what you believe) of hell is really what this discussion is about or debating whether someone should use the word karma or not. He's only feeling guilty about something he shouldn't. It's natural to feel that way, you had no hand in any of it, so don't beat yourself up over it.

Oh I'm definitely not beating myself up over it haha. I just wanted to share a story/ see how everyone else would react

I'm glad to hear it, what you're feeling sounds like a pretty common response to the situation.
