Nice way to spam your music, buddy.

Seriously though, if writing music is what you enjoy doing, then you should keep at it. But, you should get a job, and just write music during your spare time.

how is that spam exactly? making one post in a few forums about needing a drummer to play live music, and i have a job it was a joke hence the "haha" relax it's just a forum

I didn't mean it badly lol. There are loads of these types of threads. Not sure if you're in the right section though, I think there's a "Band Members Wanted" type section on this forum somewhere.

Agreed with Aerofan11, get a job but continue to write music, you never know when you'll hit a break.

Yeah, it is the wrong forum.

But if you're writing music just to try to make it big, you should definitely stop. If you're doing it because it's what you love to do, then keep at it.

what does where you live have anything to do with what you're doing? I'm just looking for some opinions on these demos and trying to find a drummer at the same time

Not really. I would hope if you were going to hop into random threads and make snarky remarks you would at least have something witty or interesting to retort with.

Now go back to politics and talk to everyone else about your liberal agenda because every other idea just ignorant. When all you grab all the stuff your professors indoctrinated you with instead of actually teaching you.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha, are you serious John Wayne? You type up a bunch of nonsense, make one little zinger, and all of a sudden you're a holier than thou political carbon copy? 'Run back to your safe place', Pilgrim? What exactly am I running from? You have no idea about my views or opinions in the Politics forums, as evidenced by your whiny little 'brainwashing' bullshit, because I am probably one of the more middle grounded posters in that forum. You're thinking of Geebee, but right now you sound like one of the sad trolls who drops in every now and again.

btw, reading the "personal life" headline i figured I could use this forum to help solve a personal issue of mine; finding a drummer. Maybe I'll get lucky, and thanks if you took a listen and sorry if wait blew your ears out, lol

Well I am one of those sad trolls who pop in every once in a while because I can't have enough fun in personal life I choose to annoy people like you. Also I'm assuming your middle ground is the same middle ground that people try and say Obama has, although he is now going with the war that he ran his campaign on ending. Also you are running because I got a flail and I'm gonna destory your family and love ones also your the person who is closest to you and owns an orange cat.

Right.

Not going to acknowledge the nonsense, but I'll just let you know that I am not happy with the path Obama has been taking, though I do think he did make good strides in certain areas; however, the information that leads to more troops in Afghanistan isn't privy to me, so I don't make any judgments on the decision to send more troops, I make judgments based on the initial decision to enter the country. My 'middle ground' is trying to research facts, empathize with all sides of the argument, use common sense and rationality, and try to make decisions that do the most good for the most people...but what do I know, I'm probably just a bleeding-heart liberal, right?

I listened to a couple of your songs and they're actually pretty damn good, especially if you can pull all the effects off live with a solid band. It's really ambient yet entertaining. I would definitely love to drum for a project like this but I'm consumed with my band enough to not overextend myself. As for your "continue to play music or work" question, do both. In this day and age with all the clutter, digital media, and so much competition that no one really knows where to go sometimes, you're better off working really hard on your music in your spare time and having a flexible enough job where you can get some band practices, recording and a few decent shows here and there under your belt. I hold full-time jobs every now and then and I'm a full-time college student yet I still play a lot of shows, write a lot of music, and have a good time. If I end up with a conventional career and I'm still able to do this, that's fine. "OMG! We got signed!" "Yes! We have a manager!" Fuck that stuff unless a good enough contract comes along. If not, these are memories that last a lifetime.

That's good to know. I figured you did have a job but I was emphasizing just sticking to both to have more of a balance. It's rare for musicians to make an extravagent living like the 1980's or even a typical middle-class lifestyle which is what I'd be happy with at best. It's awesome just to leave the money out of it and keep your art in its purest form. A lot of contracts and services out there are nonsense anyway.

And, another downside I forgot to mention is that I'm down here in Philly.

i was expecting something bad and childish, but this was surprisingly good. it seems like you have a knack for making catchy music. i don't know if it's a waste of time, but it would be a waste of time if you don't find a way to get your music out there fast since there's quite a few bands that sound very similar already.

way to give me anxiety haha, thanks though. I really just want to get it started with a drummer and I have no idea where to look. I'm thinking I should just release these demo MP3s for download for free and just not play live until I find one. I don't want to play with any beat machines (that's how i did my recordings) and just keep writing till someone comes along that has the time to commit to something. but again thanks for listening :)
