so, espn.com posted a poll asking which 7-7 AFC team had the best chance of making the playoffs. the choices were as follows
dolphins
jaguars
texans
titans
steelers
im personally torn between the titans, dolphins, and steelers.
what do you guys think?

Jaguars have the best conference record at 6-4 out of those teams so id say them

i didnt think about the fact that theyve also given the best team in football a run for their money this year
twice.
Hopefully the Titans can somehow pull it off. Beating SD is going to be hard though.
This coming week Denver plays Philly, PIT plays the Ravens, Jets play the Colts, Miami and Houston plays each other and Jaguars play the Patriots.
Rooting for teams that I hate is going to suck.

if Miami wins out (vs. HOU, vs. PIT), NE beats JAX, and PIT beats BAL, the Dolphins make the playoffs

The Steelers will not make the playoffs. And this is coming from a fan. We don't even deserve to make the playoffs, we've had an awful year. I blame the secondary/defense mostly, but Big Ben hasn't been too consistent (aside from tonight) either.

Yeah because the two Super Bowls are courtesy of he, himself. Not like Harrison ran back an interception to win it last year, eh?
xbrokendownx
12/20/09, 09:08 PM
so youre saying he had no part in winning the super bowl? man some of you people that complain about your teams really need some perspective. try having guys like ray lucas, AJ feeley, sage rosenfels, trent green (post concussions), etc QB your team and then get back to me
Kurt Retenauer
12/20/09, 09:13 PM
Not saying that at all. I'm saying that I don't think he's as consistent as other quarterbacks, i.e. there are much better quarterbacks in the league than him. Surely he contributed to winning both of our Super Bowls and the games that got us there, but I don't recall any games he "won" for us, if that makes any sense. It always seems like the defense has to pull through and pick up the pieces left behind from a rather mediocre offense with the Steelers. And with Polamalu being gone for the majority this year, we've seen what the Steelers really are without a fantastic defense, which is mediocre at best.

hm...you sure? i just checked that on the playoff generator and if the titans were to win out and that happened, the Titans would be in. Somehow if the Ravens BEAT the Raiders and lose to the Steelers, NE beats JAX, and the Phins win out they make it.
edit: That's actually right if you're assuming the titans lose to the Chargers. But i still like the chances for you guys. Nothing against the Phins, but I'd rather see the Ravens in it. They're the stronger team, and would make for a better playoff match up IMO.
honestly i don't think either will do it. I'd like those odds to make it if the Phins won out, but that's going to be incredbily hard against the Texans and Steelers.

Don't even talk about consistency with me. I'm an Iowa Hawkeye and Dallas Cowboys fan and trust me neither quarterback has an ounce of consistency. Ricky Stanzi passed for 300+ yards and 1 interception one week and then comes in the next week and throws for 97 yards and 5 interceptions. And if you watch the NFL, which I assume you do, you already know what a struggle Tony Romo has. I realize this is off topic but I would gladly trade you both my quarterbacks for Mr. Ben.
QuikTrig
12/21/09, 02:07 AM
because tony romo is such a bad quarterback as well? X-)
this consistent stuff has to stop. so your QB has a couple bad games....every damn qb does. we can't all have brees or favre. would you rather have your QB be consistently bad? try being a raiders fan or something.

the defense, mostly the secondary has been awful in key spots. but i think the biggest problem is arians. the offensive playcalling is fucking atrocious and has been ever since he took over. i hope to hell he's gone after this season.
Yeah because the two Super Bowls are courtesy of he, himself. Not like Harrison ran back an interception to win it last year, eh?
not like ben threw a pass through a pin hole to santonio to win it last year, eh?
Not saying that at all. I'm saying that I don't think he's as consistent as other quarterbacks, i.e. there are much better quarterbacks in the league than him. he won the indianapolis game the season during his first super bowl. and did you watch any of last season? at all? i don't see how you can watch any of last season and claim he hasn't "won" games for us. dude had like 6 fourth quarter comeback wins alone just last season, including the superbowl.
he's not the manning/brady/brees level, but he's right there in that tier behind him. he may not be the most consistent qb in the game, but he comes through when it counts the most.
for his career, his qb rating is higher in the fourth quarter of games than it is for any other quarter. his qb rating in december and january is also higher than it is from sept-nov. dude may not be the most consistent, but dude is fucking clutch and i'm glad he's our's.
Really?
Tim Tebow has two National Championship rings, but it's not like he did much for the first one.
I could have one that first Super Bowl, all he did was hand the ball off.
and score a rushing td. and complete a miraculous pass to hines to set up that score.
he played awful in the first super bowl, but they never would have been there if he hadn't played so amazing in the first three rounds and down the stretch of that season.
but, you've never said anything even remotely intelligent in here, so i don't even know why i included your post.
not lose to the browns, chiefs and raiders lol
the chiefs and raiders games are entirely on the defense. and the browns were due to playcalling. i don't blame ben for any of those.
ben gets a lot of shit, but the dude does so much shit that he doesn't get any credit for.
