View Full Version : Homeless Mustard
This dude performed a few songs on the Opie and Anthony show. I have to say I was surprised by him. He's apparently a homeless dude that lives in NYC. Guess all the free time allowed him to practice?

There's a few more that you can see from just clicking the See More From This User thingy on youtube. So, what do you all think?
Edit: Also, I did a search for "Homeless Mustard" so if this has already been discussed, woooooops.

I can't decide if his voice is really bad or kinda good. Maybe a little of both.

Gotta be honest... I'm really not a fan. Voice isn't great, playing isn't great either. I wish him the best though. Hopefully they didn't just bring him on and then not give him any food/money/help...

Probably a little bit of both. I just really like the emotion. Seems like he's playing the songs without anything to lose. Just putting it all out there and playing it how he wants to play it. Also, it sounds as though he's losing his voice at times.

I obviously don't know him, but if he's homeless, one could guess he probably hasn't had any formal training? Or so I would think. He could definitely learn to play better, although I find his voice good enough as it is. Honestly, It's his voice that does it most for me. Instead of this overproduced auto-tuned crap that's churned out at all times now, he's singing with his heart, and playing because it's what he loves to do instead of doing what he's told to do for a payday.

Thanks bro, I love his interpretation of the song, I almost cried because the emotion hit me so hard. He definitely has a great voice, and even if he didn't, singing talent isn't a requirement for music anymore.
Awesome, awesome, awesome.

I don't think it's necessarily accurate to imply that most people these days are in music for the payday. There are certainly bands that are, but there always have been. I also think that if he were any random person, fewer people would argue "he can definitely improve his voice and playing to get better." The reality is that he isn't there, and while some may say "this is great for a homeless guy," that will only get him as far as a gimmick will. I appreciate the style he's going for, but it's a style that is currently done better by artists like Ray LaMontagne and Bon Iver. Kudos to him for working on his craft and I'm always happy to see people out there giving it a shot, but I'm not going to view him any differently because he's homeless.
