I think John Peel summed up my feelings about this band when he said the following about Big Black:

"Once a week I drive a nail through my foot to remind myself of the stupidity of not going to see them when I had the chance."

Right Now, You're In The Best of Hands... is one of the most flawless albums ever made. Terrorhawk was a great follow up, but it couldn't touch Right Now. That album is still is constant rotation for me; it's one of those albums that reveals something new with each listen. I'd go so far as to call it a masterpiece.

My thoughts exactly. Terrorhawk is a fantastic album, and a good followup. It expanded, brought in new ideas and stuff, but Right Now, You're in The Best Of Hands... is just a perfect and flawless album. I'll never get sick of it.

I heard that they were going to try and posthumously get Terrorhawk released on vinyl in 2006. Must've fallen through? I hope there are still plans to release it on vinyl. It'd sound killer on wax.

They still have copies of both the red/yellow colour, and the second pressing of the picture disc! http://www.frictionrecords.net/mainmenu/frames.html

I'm ordering them tomorrow :-D

And this...

"News:
12.19.06: Well, here's some good news. The vinyl pressing of BEARVSSHARK "Right Now You're In The Best of Hands" will include 2 unreleased tracks that were recorded at the same time as the rest of the record. It's awesome that the songs "California Hot Seat" and "June 7th" are finally seeing the light of day on Friction. Also, pre-order for the second pressing of the Terrorhawk Picture Discs is up now."

It'd due Feburary 16th. Two Right Now... B-Sides. Hell yeah!

not quite true. i know of at least 2 times theyve played it. once a few years back at the DAAC in grand rapids, my brother was there, and another time ive seen them play it before...but i cant remember when or where just yet. either here in ann arbor or in lansing.

Marc said it "sucked" when asked to play it live not long before they broke up. too bad.

shit is fucking ace regardless. enjoy, i also have thosetracks as mp3's i can upload or send them to you whatever, i also picked up a live version of these songs:

01 - Ma Jolie
02 - 5,6 Kids
03 - Michigan
04 - Catamaran
05 - The Employee Is Not Afraid
06 - Don’t Tell The Horses …
07 - Campfire
08 - Buses / No Buses

from 3.11.2005 @ the knitting factory, the sound isnt that bad, always a fun time hearing marcs voice nuts live.

so if anyone wants of those 3 songs on that myspace or this live shit hit me up pm or aol and we can cyber sex. chat. or i can just give you the tunes, either way it will be a cumtastic time.

I have accepted the fact we have lost them post their break up to a shitty trend/fad/fanbase.

Could you imagine if this band was still together, I can only think they would have the same fans as The Fall Of Troy, Chiodos, and Circa Survive...

and that would make me want to blow my brains out.

It would be terrible indeed. But understandable (fuck you equal vision). The scenesters here were on a Pyramids, La Quiete, CTTS, Saetia binge for a couple of months; thank god that died within weeks of Tokio Hotel and any number of shitty alt-glam bands gaining steam.

Yes. And?

You're a dipshit, dude. I don't give a fuck who likes Bear Vs. Shark, they are a great band and nothing can change that. I haven't seen any of the scene kids like BVS the way kids are obsessed with the other three bands who are nowhere close to being as good as BVS. Circa Survive only had one really good album and though TFOT is still good, A) Their best work is past them and B) Most BVS fans like TFOT anyways . Your Circa Survive argument is also somewhat invalid because BVS and Circa toured together on one of BVS's last tours (and one of Circa's first tours). Stop being an elitist dipshit and like a great band for what they are, a great band who made great music.

Also, when you search this site for BVS fans, of the first results, one or two maybe three people could be considered scenesters.

you were about 12/13 years old back in 2005 when they were still barely a band. I'd imagine you never got to see them live. I am not bragging but I got to see them live 3 times, and not once did I ever encounter the people at the show like the people posting about liking them here.

There was no fashion/style/or relation to other scene music with this band. It was normal people, sweating, getting crazy, laughing, into 80s and 90s style bands they ripped off. So an older crowd if you will. they had a lot of Clash, Husker Du, Les Savy Fav sound about them live, it ruled. And two out of the three times I saw them there was barely more than 25 kids there.

It just perplexes me how this band is even relevant 3 years after their break up, how they even gain more fans now then they did when touring hard and being active.

their LP was put on on a lackluster label nobody even had a clue that was pressing it.

I am so confused how they gain fans/people find out about them NOW more then ever.

Their myspace has the worst songs by them and is a cluster fuck they never check, so I am not sure how people are like I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THEM... from who? People are still pushing/spreading the word about this band that put out two albums then died? Like a fucking Cult following they gained.

That is true. I heard this band first in late 05 or so from this site when they were about to head out on tour with Limbeck I think, and i was 13. I checked them out because I dug their name and the first song I heard was "Catamaran". I thought it was decent. But the band grew on me and I still love them, even if I never saw them live. A lot of the shows I go to have more older people because I can agree that most of the people my age have shit musical tastes (IE: MEHTRO STAYSHUN IS DUH BEST BAND EVAR!!!!!1) . I love running around and "getting crazy" and getting sweaty at a concert. The worst concert I ever went to was an Anthony Green solo show where I stood there the whole time and watched a decent-at-best performer with no crowd movement whatsoever.

It isn't perplexing how they kept their name alive. They released Terrorhawk and broke up shortly thereafter. People loved that record, and the word kept being spread around about them. Equal Vision put out a compilation CD/DVD with their artists THIS YEAR and the video for "Catamaran" was on the DVD section. Sites like this, threads like this and music sharing. Word of fucking mouth. It keeps the name and the sounds of this band alive, even if they are dead.

they don't even check/clean up their myspace, their merch isn't even pushed to be sold.

That is true and true again. They haven't been on their myspace page in over a year, if my memory serves me correctly. Their merch isn't really pushed (but I still own a T-shirt and both of their cd's and now i will own a Terrorhawk picture disc soon too).

Their LP was found out by word of mouth. Look at some of the earlier posts in this thread where people talk about Right Now, You're In the Best of Hands being pressed onto vinyl. Like I have said before, its all about word of mouth. Sites like this post that is being pressed, and then word gets out.

I actually like all the songs on their myspace. Could they have put up better ones, yes. But I like all of the songs with somewhat of an exception to "I Fucked Your Dad", It is a good song but I feel like they could have done a bit more and expanded on it more.

It is somewhat like a cult following. They were a great band. It goes the same for At the Drive-In (though they put out a bunch more releases). Both are great bands, but both are dead bands. People still talk and spread the word about them because people still care about both bands. People are catching onto how unique and creative they both were. People still talk about both of their live shows, people who saw them loved it and people who didn't wish they saw it. And people still want both bands to reunite, but sadly, neither of them will in the near future. For every 100 fucking The Maine or All Time Low-esque shit bands, maybe 1 band comes within the realm of being half as good as BVS. Good bands just aren't coming out anymore.
