In that price range, for what you want, the Vox Valvetronix and Roland Cube series are probably your best bets. Cheap, reliable, decent modeling. What I don't understand though is why you don't want to buy a used amp? You can get a better amp, for less money. I always recommend buying used gear.

idk, i asked for recommendations a long time ago, and everyone said to get used, but i searched for the models they reccommended, and i could never find them on craigslist or anything

I wouldn't really recommend a tube amp for a bedroom player. I still say to look for a used Vox Valvetronix or Roland Cube.

I'd probably just get a standard Crate amp. They're about $250. Works great for me when I started to play and it had a decent amount of effects on it as well.

i usually just have the mindset its better to have it if...
no sense spending money on something to bring you halfway there when if you spend the extra cash now you will be covered for the future. just my train of thought however. its a fucking powerful amp for just a bedroom though. i barely bring it above 4 for full practice

Anything line 6, I would go for the cheap and affordable spider 3 30 watt. it will run you alittle over $100 depending on where you buy it, but there nice little amps for playing just in your free time, I still own mine actually i use for a practice amp cuzz the half stack gets alittle heavy lol Also it has built in effects so no pedals are needed

You can't use a tube amp to its full potential at bedroom volumes.

something from orange's crush series. sincerely the best solid state amps ive ever played and you can get a 15-watt with reverb and two channels for like 120 dollars. that's seriously all you could ever want or need for bedroom play. they're hard to find since the orange company doesnt license their products to very many music stores, but hell i'd just buy it online at humbuckermusic and be satisfied.

I picked up a Peavey Vypyr Tube series... So far I'm a fan.

yup yup, quoted for absolute truth.
I'm a happy customer of humbucker. I ordered my orange rockerverb 50 from them as well as the matching 4x12 orange vintage celestion 30's cabinet. Everything arrived unharmed and in perfect working condition. It's an absolute bitch locating local orange equipment dealers, and even when you do it's almost ALWAYS ridiculously overpriced. If you can eat the shipping cost, just buy it online. Although from the sound of it you just want a small bedroom combo amp which typically don't weigh that much = less shipping.
