I wrote some lyrics for a new song my band's been working on...any suggestions?

There's double vocals, so every time the words (are in parentheses), it's the other singer.

Home is Where You Make It

Intro:

At the end of the road, who will find us? How will we ever get home?
At the end of the road, where will we go? Can we ever make it back alone?

Verse 1:

Two years ago, I was hardly in contention, now I'm on high ground.
This life won't get the best of me (Make it plain to see) That nothing stands in my way
But it seems like every time (that I cross this line) I find myself losing out (just another let down)
Each barrier that I break is another mistake I make and it's all coming back around
I'm sorry I've let you down (so sorry we're letting you down)

Chorus
No matter what I do, I'll always be brought straight back to
The old abandoned lot where we could leave the world behind
And no matter where I go, these streets are what I'll always know
Because home is where you make it first, don't jump before you run into the world

Verse 2:

Well I've spent some time away (in a fantasy) I'm having trouble coming back down
I'm stuck up so high, there's much less oxygen in the sky, and my lungs are wearing out
I'm losing all self control, (and I've got no sense) of me, (myself) and (I)
I'm a quitter, a liar, a sinner, desiring everything but what I need
Time's running out (gotta play this one right) Or we're all losing out (My friends and I lose out)

Chorus

Bridge:
We've strayed from the course (The damage is done)
We've waited too long (To the edge of the road we run) (x2)

We've strayed from the course, the damage is done. Now we're over the edge and falling

Outro:

At the end of the road, who will find us? How will we ever get home?
At the end of the road, where will we go? Can we ever make it back alone?

Les critiques? I'm not sure if that translates in any language...

My only suggestion would be remove the word 'behind' in the first chorus so there is a slant rhyme with 'world'...just a suggestion
