Saosin (http://www.absolutepunk.net/artists/showlink.php?do=showdetails&l=2426&catid=searchresults&searchid=435957) has posted "SHh" - a new song, on their myspace (http://myspace.com/saosin) page. Also, according to the page, it looks like their album will be called Sound Raptors.

i liked it, but i'm still not a fan of the replacement vocal chords.
I had very low expectations, so this is a pleasant surprise. A fine example of solid rock. Nothing spectacular, but definitely not lackluster. Forget about Anthony Green for three minutes and you might enjoy it a little. If not, listen to Translating the Name and shut the fuck up about OMGZ KHOV < ANFANI GRIIEN.

I wish you people would just accept the fact that this is a different band than they were with Anthony. You sons of bitches need stop comparing cove to anthony and just let it go for christsake. I think they are taking a different direction and it is refreshing, they are evolving with their scene, the screamo scene that was when TTN came out is pretty much no longer alive. Deal with the fact that they have a new sound or quit listening to them
I personally love the song

drums.Seriously? First off, I thought the drums on Translating the Name were kit drums. Also, I think the drums on Bury Your Head are pretty damned good.
This song is great. Am I the only one that likes Cove better than AG??? I mean, their voices are similar, and Cove sounds better live more consistantly than AG does. AG is good and all but he is so overrated. I'm glad that we now have Circa and Saosin both pleasuring our ears. AG is better in Circa, and Cove is better for Saosin IMO. Also, how have the drums lost their edge? A-Rod is a fucking killer drummer and he slays. On a final note, I believe whoever posted Beau saying the titles were changed. Just from reading their blogs on myspace I can tell they are some of the goofiest, sarcastic guys and these titles are probably just a joke because their label doesn't want them to be released yet. This album wont be close to the greatest of the year but I can definitely see this being a top 10 album of the year. I'm sure no one will be reading this anyways so /rant.

I was really impressed by the instrumental demos for this album, but somehow the instrumentals don't sound impressive at all really in this song. they need more stuff like the breakdown in Bury Your Head.
and i am an Anthony Green worshiper, but i think Cove does just fine in this song.

This was my fav band, Anthony is just amazing, i don't care what anyone says, he brings anythign he touches to another level. I mean he could sing over a retarded monkey playing the xylophone and it wuold be the best band ever. The drums on TLN are crazy, guitars rule, adn Anthony is a god, new stuff isn't bad, but they don't realyl stand out anymore.

really good. im excited for more!
I still feel like Cove is holding back. After seeing the Mormon in the Middle vids, the two Saosin acoustic clips, and his performance with Yesterday's Rising, he is capable of much more power. Though, maybe it was a decision to preserve his vocal cords.

if anthony was never in the band you wud probably all love this song. but he was in the band. and hes not anymore. get over it. they can't possibly be the same band with a new vocalist. yea we all no ttn was incredible and nothing can top that. stop comparing it. listen the song and form an opinion based in that alone. i think its damn good. and i am looking forward to their album now

well to me ttn is on a pedestal because it was an absolutely incredible release. i thought the two new songs and the acoustic bury your head from the ep were shit, yea. but bury your head, sleepers, and 'shh' are all really solid songs in my opinion. im not trying to down them at all. they got a new singer, shit changes. im glad theyre still able to make good songs.

The counter melodies in this song are sick, I still dont see why people hate. I guess maybe you actually have to know a thing or two about song writing or how to play an instrument to appreciate it.
Either way, this album is probably going to be enormous.

what scott said is true.
anthony didnt really make the album, but the drums did have alot of how good the cd was.
and the musicianship on translating the name was soooo good, and their new stuff is just, its not as technical as it was back then. its like they are just doing the basic stuff just cuz it sounds good, and its easy. but i must say. its pretty decent.

06/29/06, 11:41 PM
Ok, FIRST OFF. In my opinion I do not think Saosin will ever top Translating the Name for one reason. And NO its not because of Anthony Green. The drums. The reason I have not liked ANY of saosin's new stuff as much as TLN is because ITS NOT THE SAME DRUMMER! I thought this was common knowledge. Alex (saosin's current drummer) did not record the drums on Translating the Name... It was Slayer's drum tec (or former drummer, I cant remember) who wrote/played the drums on that EP. Alex was brought into the group after they recorded. Thats why, at least the times I have seen them, Alex doesnt play exactly whats on the record. So to me, until the drums get badass like they were on the EP, Saosin will always be a watered down version of thier former selves.

If the drumming is your reasoning for feeling that this song is watered-down you're retarded. Stop looking for excuses to hate them. The stuff on TTN wasn't any edgier in terms of guitars, it's all still formulaic.

This band puts 98 percent of the all the bands in the scene to shame. They are more talented on every instrument plus they can write a good song which is harder than you may think. And why is it the cool thing to do to say the band "sucks" without Anthony Green, he and Cove have similar range plus the remainder of the band is pretty much the same. Everybody just says that to sound cool.

Agreed. A lot of people don't realize how far along the band has come from when Cove first joined. He's finally stopped trying to be Anthony and has started to be himself. He's gotten used to being on stage in front of large crowds, used to the attention, etc.
As said, there are only two members in the band who were involved in the recording of the EP, Beau and Justin. Cove replaced Anthony, Alex replaced Pat, the Slayer drum tech, and Chris replaced the old guy who now plays for Ashlee Simpson (lol)

I've seen Circa Survive twice, and he's been dead on on each occasion. The last set I saw, he opened a cappella with his Bjork "Unravel" cover, and his voice filled the room without a microphone. Granted, a smaller venue, but from my experience there's no denying his voice live, so I disagree.
Back on topic, I don't mind the song, but I'm not blown away either. I agree with whoever said earlier that they seem to reuse a lot of the same chord progressions. Exactly at the two minute mark, I thought he going to say "Don't say that I'm the one you want to lose.". I have no real expectations for the album, but I am excited to hear what the final result is.

middle schoolers are gonna eat this shit up like crack, as long as the bands hair is long and they wear tight pants, the neo-scenescters will jump on the saosin bandwagon faster than you can say panic at the disco. Just churn out one stupid band after another, doesn't matter the name, its usually just some phrase, as long as the song titles are either incredibly simple or incredibly long, they'll eat it all up. The band might sound one iota different form the band they were listening to last week, doesn't matter the new mysterious band name in their CD player makes them more hip.
They'll still be "too cool" to move around at shows though.

You know your shit - welcome to the site. :)
It's a step back in the right direction.
i am stoked you guys like the song!!!
yes, its the unmixed and unmastered version.

i like the new song, lyrically not as good as ant green saosin, but still good
honestly, having circa survive with anthony AND saosin with cove is sooo much better than only having anthony green's saosin
