A little help please?

Hi - long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm sure this problem seems trivial to most of you and I'll get a lot of shit for it, but for the last 2 years I was homeschooled. I didn't really tell anyone when I left school and didn't keep in touch with anyone so in short, I guess you could say I don't have any friends. I'm completely aware of how pathetic it is to ask this, but where do you make friends outside of school? Where do I begin without any connections?

Or go to the mall,you can make friends anywhere just start talking to someone that looks around your age.

So your 17, your young yet don't worry things change if your going to college, its really all about interests tho. Try to meet other people with the same interest. Then become friends. Could be anything really, just be comfortable with and enjoy yourself when you talk to people and ask them questions about themselves.

Play sports
Dancing classes
Volunteer Work - Become an emt, work at a homeless or animal shelter
Religious crap - (i'm not religious but if you are they have a lot of social programs)
Just anything

And don't be afraid to try something new or make an ass of yourself at certain points, you can't learn in life without doing it.

I was homeschooled my last few years of highschool as well. Honestly the best idea would be to get a job somewhere that hires a lot of people your age. Then you can make some friends there, that might want to hang out with you outside of work.

find some kind of recreational activity you enjoy, and you will meet tons of people. Sports/ hobbies anything like that. Bars or clubs also work great just be open and friendly.

I work in a physical therapy clinic which is somewhat in line with my career goals, but I'm also the only person there under 30. I tend to avoid going to shows because that always seemed like a group activity, but I suppose I could grow a pair. Thanks guys.

Sounds like you have your shit together for a 17 year old. You're in a tough spot for sure. I'd say find something your passionate about and pursue it in your free time, you'll make friends a long the way.

You sound pretty mature to me and seem like you can handle yourself pretty well. In any case, meeting people with similar music taste at shows is (at least to me) a huge plus in a friendship, so that seems like a solid plan. I've met some super close friends of mine through attending concerts. Go for it.
