so i was listening to these guys and i decided to search for an official thread, and could not find one. so i took the liberty of making one.

Albatross is a pretty good record, The Silver Cord is incredible, and i absolutely can't wait for their new release next year. anyone else a big fan?

I like their full lengths alright, but Seattle Sessions is the best thing they've done imo.

They're enjoyable, but they've never stood out enough from the rest of the Tooth and Nail pack for me to want any of their albums. I'll occasionally listen to them on YouTube, though.

admittedly the only song off the Seattle Sessions is Seattle, which i love, so i really need to get the rest.

Seattleis probably my least favorite on that album. It's definitely worth owning.

albatross is a great album. silver cord took some time to work on me -- it was an ambitious project. and obviously, Seattle Sessions is sweet.

and yes, their live set is reallll good.

I love both of their full-lengths. And Seattle. The rest of the EP is okay, I don't own it though.

New album Vagabonds out early next year.

Hopefully the next record will mirror somewhat of the Seattle Sessions but nevertheless Vagabond will be my most expected album for 2010

All I remember about this band is that they have a track where the opening drum part sounds just like Dance Dance. I have nothing constructive to offer to this thread. I'm sorry.

Yeah. I opened for them a billion years back and they started playing that to begin their set, making me think "wow, that's odd that they would begin with a Fall Out Boy cover." Turns out, it wasn't Dance Dance, which is a bummer, 'cause that track's wicked awesome.

Albatross and the Seattle Sessions both had some really awesome tracks, but The Silver Chord is the only album I've been able to get into as a whole. Nevertheless, I'm very excited for Vagabonds.
Is there a release date yet or do we just know that it's 'early' next year?

Why is that? They seem pretty comfortable with the label. Spoken numerous times about how they don't care about fame or selling a lot of records, so I don't see why they would move to a bigger label. I don't think T&N would drop them considering they are becoming one of their main bands like Emery. Honestly they would need to tour more to become bigger, I haven't seen them live once because they won't come to the east coast. ha ha. Atlanta, GA needs to see TCC!

Shoulda toured more on "The Silver Cord" that's for damn sure.
Always thought they could be support for some radio rock band and turn some heads.

Rocked when I caught 'em at Warped Tour in '08.

I love them. Hence the pic.

I think Albatross is amazing, in that I can listen to any song from it and enjoy it - it's perfect rock-out music. Seattle Sessions is awesome too - I love how all seven or so songs sound original, which is impressive for acoustic stuff. The Silver Cord is a great listen, but for me it doesn't rock hard enough; it follows too much of a story to thoroughly enjoy some of the darker songs without listening to them in the context of the whole album. Still, the final 3 songs on it are a pretty sweet ending.

I think someone mentioned earlier that they were just another generic T&N band or something like that. I don't see how. There may be plenty of similar-ish sounding bands but I can't think of many that pull off the sound so well. And Matt MacDonald's lyrics and vocals are anything but generic.

they told me that they are having problems with T&N and said that they wish tooth and nail didnt favor certain bands over others....but they have been working on a new album and are planning on releasing it with T&N....we'll see what happens

agreed. They don't sound anything like your cookie cutter bands in the same genre, and i feel as though they evolved from first full length to second. Matt has some amazing vocals, gives me chills.

Gotcha. Yeah I believe it. That's why Search the City basically broke up or went on hiatus. However, I would think T&N is being more supportive of TCC since it's their third album with them. Maybe the label is frustrated because they aren't getting recognition...

yeah def. it has to work both ways....and i think if they both worked on it it would favor them in the end...but nevertheless they were awesome, not stuck up like other bands, they where really down to earth...it was a smaller show but i mean it was prolly the funnest show i've ever played cuz their attitudes were in the right place and they had fun with the rest of us too

Friday night I caught these guys on their tour with Ivoryline. It was a good show, they sounded great even though Matt said he was losing his voice. I thought he still sounded fantastic. Unfortunately their set was only 10 songs long so that was a HUGE disappointment. It probably has something to do with Madina Lake dropping off the tour but still. Set list was really good, although shoulda been a good 5 or 6 songs longer

set list
Gravedigging
Say The Word
Abracadavers
Who Needs Air
Cheap Shots
A Perfect Voice
The Coldest Heart
Solar Powered Life
Salt in the Snow

Encore:
The Fight

Saw these guys last night for a hometown show in Lynden. It was an acoustic set but didn't disappoint at all.

I never really listened to Seattle Sessions before I went but I bought it there and am absolutely in love with it. Listening to those songs last night felt like I was listening to new material. It was a 50 minute set which was sort of disappointing but I loved what they put out. Can't wait to see them again.

Thread resurrection. I miss these guys (I get that Vagabonds came out a bit over a year ago, but they've kept really quiet). Anyone have any idea on what's going on in the TCC camp?

Also, spinning The Silver Chord. Love this band.

My understanding is that, at this point, Matt is doing 100% of the writing(not just lyrics, but all the instruments as well) and I think the only member making any money off of the album sales as a result, but the other guys are still down to tour or atleast play some shows and such every so often. Matt's definitely outright said in his blog that there's a good chance that his musical future may be seperate from The Classic Crime because all of the other members are really bummed/burned out due to the lack of mainstream success and he wants to "reignite his passion with positive people" or something to that effect.

Although, I haven't kept updated on all this for a few months.

His blog is really insightful actually:

And no, our band isn't breaking up. Not just yet... Long story short things aren't like they used to be, and we can no longer afford to have five full time members in our band. Which leaves me, the one full time member, to try to find time to write with the part-timers.

I got it wrong though. Two full time members but they're still writing with the part-time members.
