David Wright, in my book.
Wright's got 9 errors
Rolen's got 6 errors.
I'll sacrifice that difference for Wright being 8 years younger with an equally potent, if not better, bat and leadership.

what makes you think wright is anymore of a leader than rolen. i haven't been in the cards clubhouse so i wouldn't know, you haven't been in the mets clubhouse so you have nothing to prove that as being true.

But right now, at this exact moment, I'd take david wright.
but i'll call you caleb when the Cardinals are on their way home after the 1st round of the playoffs this year.

Yes, rolen is an outstanding 3B. but right now, considering all factors, I'd take Wright over Rolen, that's all.

that is pretty weak caleb, wright has been in the league for a year and a half. That comment reminds me of when my uncle and I got into a mets vs yankees debate the year of the subway series. I made a good point about the mets being better and he says, "Oh yeah, how many championships have the mets won?"
That being said, I am a mets fan but i cant say that wright is better this year because rolen is playing out of his mind. I honestly think at this point in the season it is a straight toss up, i would maybe give the smallest edge to wright because his team has the better record and may have already won the division, and he has been the best player on that team.

It's not like Rolen is a grisled veteran or anything. He may be knicked up a bit, but he's still only 31. He's the best defensive 3b in the league and the offense with Wright is a push right now.

Yeah, David Wright is just having a push...18 HR's, 64 RBI's, .327 batting average, 11 stolen bases. He's just having a push right now, not a good season or anything.

Eckk I meant him and Rolen are pretty much even. Like in gambling on two even teams.

a push means rolen and wright are pretty much equal offensively.
Well, even if I misunderstood, they really aren't. Wright has him offensively and Rolen has him defensively.
David Wright
.327, 18 HR, 64 RBI, 11 SB, .587 SLG
Scott Rolen
.344, 10 HR, 50 RBI, 4 SB, .568 SLG
So with hitting, Wright has the advantage.
David Wright
9 errors in 127 attempts, 76 games started, .951 FP%
Scott Rolen
6 errors in 167 attempts, 65 games started, .972 FP%
So obviously Rolen owns him in the defensive category. Even though Wright has played more games, Rolen has less errors and more attempts. I would take Rolen defensively any day. Wright is getting better, but he's no Rolen.
Overall for the year, I think Wright is having a better year..but you can't honestly say that without thinking of Rolen because of the year he's having. Honestly, I'd take either of them. They'll probably both make the All Star team so it's not like one is an all star and one isn't.

Wright also has 50+ more plate appearences. However Wright has had a hot month. Rolen is just heating up. Wright has 10 hrs in June.

Yeah if you take away that road trip Wright had where he batted like .380 with those 6 HR's..then he's just having a mediocre season. He's cooled down now though, I wish he'd get hot again.

Yea but you cant take out any streak because it all evens out in the end. Haha. I love when people say "well if you take out his 4 bad starts". You cant take out his 4 bad starts. Thats the point in playing all the games.
But yeah, Rolen has been playing hurt and missed some games. He also carried the team when Pujols was out. Both are doing very well this year and are deserving of the All-star team.

Even the guys on baseball tonight were talking about taking veteran players (jeter and a-rod) over wright in the postseason.
It was his first world series appearance. And he sucked it up, so did the rest of the team. But now he has EXPERIENCE. He's been there, he knows what its like. Wright doesn't.

and that's all nice and good but they aren't going to the WS if Mulder's still got a bum arm, carpenter is still "eh.." and their best picture is andy reyes. so he can use that "experience" to figure out what type of tostitos chips to use with his con-queso dip.
