I need someone to suggest which Between the Buried and Me songs/albums to check out. I'm going to a show of theirs in a month with my band, and with it not being my preferred style of music, I have not listened to them before and want to start it off good because I hear great things about them. So any recommendations that anyone has would help out a lot.

Listen to the entire Colors album. It's a masterpiece. For individual songs I'd say White Walls, Prequel To The Sequel, Fossil Genera, Mordecai, Backwards Marathon, Alaska, All Bodies, and Selkies: The Endless Obsession

I'm sure they will play a lot of their latest album The Great Misdirect so if you want to be familiar with what they will play at the show give that a good few listens.

As far as their best work Colors is unbelievable and Alaska is pretty damn good too.

You can't go wrong, honestly. All their albums are good in their own respect.

I was never able to get into Silent Circus or the majority of Alaska...then I saw them live.

Colors is their masterpiece.

don't they have an official thread? couldn't you have just asked your question there? weren't you the same guy who made that brand new thread where everyone was like "don't make useless threads"? :nono:

The Silent Circus is their best record. Once upon a time I loved the shit out of it, and still enjoy from time to time. Now I just feel as though they try entirely too hard.

They try too hard? What the fuck?

They try too hard? What the fuck?

Personal opinion, my man.

A lot of what other people credit them for doing I find contrived and unnecessary. I feel like their songs flowed a lot better and made more sense during The Silent Circus era. The genre-bending and style shifts that occur throughout their songs and even parts just don't do it for me.

Still workin' out the kinks bro/ This will probably not be the last useless thread you see. AndI don't wanna go into the Official thread cause that would probably take minutes of searching page by page, while I can ask people in a thread like I did. And it is successful for me, as they have told me what I needed :-)

i'm not saying you should search for the answers to your questions in the official threads. i'm saying you could just ask your questions in the official threads instead of in these threads, and you don't necessarily have to read all the posts in the official thread before posting. i know this method you're using right now is convenient for you, but it clutters the forums for everyone else. if you use the search bar to find the official thread and just post in it with your question, it's just as efficient with about as much effort. it might take a while to get a response depending on how frequently the particular thread is visited, but you don't really need answers to these kinds of music-related questions instantly, do you?

to be clear, i'm not trying to be mean and call you stupid, since i know you're definitely not trolling. i know we all start out as noobs. just trying to help out. certain behaviors annoy people on the site, thus making your experience less enjoyable when they complain about what you're doing wrong.

You could not waste your time and actually listen to good music. Just my two cents.

You can place threads like these in the recommendations section without people jumping on you for it not being in the band's official music thread. As far as the question is concerned I would suggest these songs off each album as a start. I do agree though that the majority of songs they play live will most likely be from Alaska and onward. Heavy on The Great Misdirect since it's their latest offering.

Self Titled - Aspirations and Shevanel Cut A Flip

The Silent Circus - Camilla Rhodes; Mordecai; Ad A Dglgmut

Alaska - All Bodies; Selkes: The Endless Obsession; Backwards Marathon...(this album is a good starting point)

Colors - Foam Born (A) The Backtrack; Foam Born (B) The Decade of Statues; White Walls...(I will say though if you begin to appreciate this band this particular album should be and is best experienced as a whole)

The Great Misdirect - Mirrors; Obfuscation; Disease, Injury, Madness
