I am really surprised that there is not already a thread in here. Anyways, not a new band by any means and a band that is pretty well known but seeing as how I've been on a big Anathallo kick lately I wanted to talk about them with other fans. So, let's talk!

Favorite album of theirs? Song? I have yet to see them live so if anyone else has I'd like to hear how they were.

Edit: If there already is a thread I wouldn't mind being pointed in the right direction.

Dokkoise House is their best song in my opinion. I was so pissed when pitchfork gave floating world something like a 2.5. I really enjoy this band though.

Floating World is one of the best albums I own.

Lol Pitchfork really gave it that low of a rating? By no means is it the greatest record of all time but Floating World is a damn fine album.

A Holiday at the Sea is probably my favorite song.

Dokkoise House and Kasa No Hone are up there too, though.

It's too bad Canopy Glow was as bad as it was. I really thought it was going to be great, everything up to that point had been getting better with every release.

"A Great Wind More Ash" is a great song.

My favorite band. Floating World and A Holiday At Sea are the best albums, best songs are A Great Wind More Ash, Genessaret, Aaron Held His Peace, A Holiday At Sea, Italo, Entropy...I'd probably eventually just name them all. Great music, and they're fantastic live. Very energetic in a really deep way. Everything feels very connected.

I quite like Canopy Glow. It took me a longer time to get into it - it wasn't as instantly infectious like Floating World, but it's still a great listen. I love 'Noni's Field' from that album too. One of my favourite songs by them.

"Don't Kid Yourself, You Need a Physician" has a poppin' jingle.

My first encounter with Todd and Vinh on this site was when I called them pretentious elitists for not liking Anathallo. Ha, that was fun.

They're enjoyable enough.

Pretty much my thoughts on it. But really I tend to ignore pitchfork reviews for that reason.

My roommate in college gave me a beer bottle they played at one of their shows for a birthday present one year.

This thread hasn't been active for some time, but Hanasakajijii one came up on random on my itouch, such a great track, imo.

The sun is shining in the UK so it's a perfect time to get out Floating World. Smiles all round. Great day!

I've been meaning to check these guys out for awhile, what is a good album to start with?

I enjoy Canopy Glow, but never got into Floating World oddly enough. I will say though that they are perhaps the most cohesive and tight live band I've ever seen.

I'd probably say Floating World. That's when they really perfected the sound. The stuff before is good but, for me, that was their best. The album after is enjoyable but probably not as amazing as Floating World. Hope that helps!
