The following is a mini interview of generic questions that we posed to all bands that wanted to answer:

Josh Ketchen & The 1,000's

1. How did you get your band name?
Well the band name has just my regular name because I play a lot of my shows solo. My "backup band" name (The 1,000's) is actually just a nickname I'm called by one of my friends. He used to call me Josh 1000 instead of Josh K, so to honor that I made a band out of it.

2. How did this band get started?
I started while I was in a band at the time. I played a few solo shows, but not too many. I wrote a ton of pop songs on the side of writing our record. Once we broke up it kind of just shifted it into gear and I started recording and playing more shows. I really enjoyed how the music was coming out so I decided to pursue this project full time.

3. What bands are you influenced by?
My influences tend to change, but not too far. The always present would be: Belle & Sebastian, Camera Obscura, The Mama's & The Papa's, The Clientele, The Beach boys, Velvet Underground, The Decemberists and Franz Ferdinand.

4. If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would like to tour with my own band hah No, but really, If I could tour with any band I would love to tour with either The Decemberists or Belle & Sebastian. They just both seem like they would be really into what they do and really fun to be around. Plus I would love to join either on stage for a song.

5. If you were a furry, what animal would you be? Why that animal?
If a furry is a certain thing instead of another word for an animal I have no idea. If it IS an animal I would be something that no one would expect to really exist like a Big Foot or a Phoenix. Just so when someone sees me it'll blow their mind!

6. Why should people listen to your band?
Because I'm the only one who gives you the option to listen or not listen. AND because I feel there's a little something for everybody.

7. If you were chosen to be in Guitar Hero/Rock Band, what song would you want in the game? How hard do you think it would be to five-star on expert?
If I were to choose one of my own songs it would be The Rich Kids. It's one of my favorite songs on the record. It would also be really hard to five star on guitar because the main instrument is a piano. So until they invent piano hero(fingers crossed) it may be a problem. BUT if I have to choose a guitar driven song it would be We Don't Belong Here. It's not hard, but it does have a guitar solo in there somewhere.

8. If you won a Grammy, who would you thank?
Pretty cliche' stuff. Family, friends, girlfriend. No surprises.

9. If you could change something about the music industry, what would it be?
Lady Gaga. I'm sorry I just think you should be known for your musical ability to be successful in music. Not be outrageous. I'm not trying to pick a fight, not like it matters, but I feel stuff like that is part of the reason music has been declining so heavily. People aren't focusing on writing good music anymore. I don't care if it sounds like something else, just put some soul behind it and stop worrying about freaky designer clothes and dying on stage.

10. Memorable tour experience?
I was hugged by a homeless lady outside on T.T. The Bears in Cambridge, MA. Me and my old band finished a set and went outside with some friends of ours from another band. The lady approached us all and asked us for change. We all had debit cards and fear so we said we had no change. She then said "that's okay, I'll take hugs though" and went around the circle of us and wrapped her arms around us each and then traveled off into the middle distance. It was incredible.

11. What does AP.net mean to you?
Well, AP.net means to me a music sharing and idea sharing blogosphere or think tank if you will. It's the AA meeting of music. It's great and I like being on the website!

12. What is your favorite song to play?
My favorite song to play is probably "The Keeper". If it's full band then it's a tie between that and The Young Guns, A B-side off of a free EP I have out.

13. What is your vacation spot of choice?
Anywhere I can think and write music. I house sit in the woods once in a while and that's actually how I got a lot of my record written. It's very tranquil.

14. What music reminds you of your childhood?
Smiths and Queen. Still listen to both quite often. My mom also used to love Country music and my brothers raised me on Hip-Hop. Either is fine with me as well.

15. If you could have any super power, what would it be? Why?
The power to block bullets with the power of my Rocking. It worked for Damn Yankees.

16. Do you feel that your band has "made it"?
We just started. So unless we're Owl City then no. I think it'll get there eventually though.

17. What is something that most fans don't know about you?
My stories are usually MORE awkward off stage than on stage so if you've been to a show and I've said some awkward stuff and you thought that was bad then we shouldn't hang out.

18. What's your favorite holiday?
Boxing Day (UK Holiday) because I thought for a while it was a holiday where people just beat each other up in rings. Turns out it's just people putting stuff in boxes.

19. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Write music. Design posters and albums. I also like to cook.

20. What kind of hidden talents do you have?
I'm good with voice impersonations.
