setlist (and no I wasnt there haha)

I am kinda upset with this setlist because it is missing staples like The places and saints and sailors

Heaven Here
Rooftops and Invitations
So Beautiful
Turpentine Chaser
Swiss Army Romance
The Secrets in the telling
Ghost of a Good Thing
For You To Notice
Dusk and Summer
Fake Plastic Trees Cover
Screaming Infidelities
So Long So Long
Stolen
Remember to Breathe
Dont Wait

Encore:
The Best Deceptions
Vindicated
Hands Down

I think it would be better taking out the cover, rooftops and invitations, and so beautiful and putting in the places, saints and sailors, and again i go unnoticed

Or he could add several ways to die trying, this bitter pill, and shirts and gloves....but i know that will never happen:(

yeah I was in toronto and went to this show. I was pretty disappointed because, a. I dont like radiohead, b. he played only two songs from places you have come to fear the most, and c. say anything canceled. John ralston and City and colour are not very good.

Still the backdrop for dashboard was pretty impressive enough to distract me from the sub par set list. And he totally killed it on Best Deceptions. It was really awesome.

07/01/06, 05:12 PM
yeah....when looking at the setlist the distribution of songs is not good...I think there are 2 songs from the places, 2 songs from SAR, 2 songs from the So impossiblr EP, 3 songs from MMBS, and 8 from the new cd and a cover........

I thought I heard this fall was the big Dusk & Summer tour?

I'm hoping they are only playing that many new ones because Canada might not get to see the new material this fall? hmm who knows!!!

Heaven Here (great song, odd placement- they should flow into this after Remember to Breathe extended)
Rooftops and Invitations (solid Dusk song, but not essential for a "Dashboard" set at the moment)
So Beautiful (one of the better songs off A Mark, but I'd love to hear Several Ways to Die Trying instead.. I figured Rapid Hope Loss or As Lovers Go would be more popular than this anyways)
Turpentine Chaser (good choice- he gets really into this one every time)
Swiss Army Romance (always a crowd fave and sing along)
The Secret's in the Telling (one of my faves on the first half of Dusk- appropriate)
Ghost of a Good Thing (wonderful slowdown)
For You To Notice (yess for the So Impossible EP.. where's So Impossible though)
Dusk and Summer (my fave on the new album)
Fake Plastic Trees Cover (should be amazing)
Screaming Infidelities (has to be here)
So Long So Long (close second fave)
Stolen (a lot of people seem to be digging this one)
Remember to Breathe (first thing I looked for on the set- love hearing the Say Anything, Brand New, and FSF lines in it)
Dont Wait (the new single)

Encore:
The Best Deceptions (biting live- I love to hear this)
Vindicated (you know, I never listen to this song at all, but I get excited to hear it and enjoy it live.. I still feel like I could do without it, but I'm sure he respects where it got his popularity)
Hands Down (it's Hands Down)

It's just not long enough for what I'm used to. I'm pretty sure he played 21 or so songs when I saw him last. Crowd faves that are noticably missing are Again, Places, and Saints. I'd love to see Several Ways to Die Trying for sure, but like someone else said, that's really doubtful. So many people know Age Six Racer that it's practically been renamed about 10 different things. I wish that one was on more often as well, but this will be a fun show. Maybe as he warms up on the tour, he'll add a couple more. Thanks for the list!

plain and simple: the new album is weak. i respect chris for his earlier work because it had passion and he did it for a purpose. swiss army romance and places were amazing cds. there is no question. then he tried to fill out the sound with a full band. thats cool, its what he wanted and he wasnt doing it for a label or for money, he just wanted some buddies to jam with. then came AMAMABAS. the lyrics were still honest and inventive, the sound a bit different with the full band but still pretty true to the dashboard vibe. for anyone who doesnt have the song this old wound, download it. this is exactly when he should have ended dashboard confessional, because thats what dashboard was. they were a shoulder to cry on for chris when he needed it, a means of letting out his feelings that kids could really connect with. when he was tired of writing that, he should have ended the band. now for all the fans, dont get me wrong, i would love him to have a new band, and tour dashboard every once in a while like he did with FSF last summer. but his new material isnt dashboard confessional. with the exception of a few shining stars on the album, the lyrics and musical performance dont do it for me. sorry to anyone who doesnt agree, but this is hands down the worst album in their catalog (no pun intended).

note: i know i left out the eps, but they werent essential to my point. also, im not saying the album is bad, but when it has others like SAR, places, and AMAMABAS to compete with, its got no originality... minus a few songs. thats not good enough for me.

Radiohead are influential, so I respect them, but I can't say that I enjoy their music, per cé. It's more of an appreciate thing. Like, many bands--notably Thrice and Thursday--started because of 90s bands I'm not big on, such as Radiohead and NIN. Dashboard chose a good song to cover, though, one of the tender-er nuggets in the Radiohead canon. As for the Beatles, whether you like it or not, they did everything first, and pretty much everything best. All musicians--Radiohead or otherwise--are in their shadow. You don't have to listen to them, but I for one think that respect for them is more or less requisite in any serious musical circle.

What other song feels like the vindicated vibe? none of them really...Don't Wait sounds like a perfect single to me.

the dont wait lyrics are weak and repeatitive and there are only so many times a guy can let his armor down. it may be lyrically one of the worst dashboard songs in their catalog. and as for the vindicated vibe, vindicated doesnt sound like any other dashboard song, so its not a very good representation, especially for people who arent gonna buy the cd cause the single sucks. i almost didnt buy the cd cause the single sucked. it just really could be miles better.

radiohead members just arent that impressive on their own individual instruments...

You're going to not recognize the validity of this comment because of how it is worded, which is very harshly, because that is just how wrong you are. But yes, you are completely fucking wrong. The individual artists in Radiohead are some of the very most talented and progressive artists in rock music.... the only other bands which even come close as individual instrumentalists are Tool, Incubus, and The Mars Volta. The fact that you think Chiodos is even close to this kind of individual talent is beyond comical. I know that loud fast things can easily confuse you, but compared to the artists I just listed, that band has absolutely no sense of rythm or anything in their music which is remotely original except in the random way the songs are put together.
