Hey I have always wanted to check them out and i was wondering where is the best place to start?
Caution is the best starting place, my favorite is Forever & Counting followed by Fuel for the Hate Game though.

Either A Flight and a Crash or Caution.

Definetly Caution to start, then follow it up with A Flight a Crash

Caution is a great place to start, but if you want something grittier to begin with, Forever & Counting is a masterpiece.

Caution
I need a remedy of diesel and dust
Something I can taste with a fix I can trust
Another high, more potent than lust.
Eating and repeating
like the workings of rust and time.

I'm also going to put in some support for The New What Next, but starting with Caution isn't a bad idea.

There are many great options, but I would opt for Caution first, No Division second.
<----- that and Caution makes for a pretty snazzy avatar. I'm not a douche and would feel honored if someone else used it.

Sorry, when it's HWM I feel I need to chime in.

Let's see... post on a website, or write music with my friends... or go to school? Or perhaps hang out with my girlfriend?
I'll take the latter choices, thanks. This is just one of the situations where none of those things are available currently. In two hours 2 of those things will, and I'll be much happier for it.

I'm not defensive YOU BASTARD!
In all seriousness though, this place isn't really part of the ol' game plan anymore. But in fits of boredom, I'm sure I'll show up, say a fart joke and bail. (Note to self: Suggest they make a "fart joke and bail" thread. Wait, nevermind, they'll just talk about anal the whole time and everyone else will 'this' it).

Easy.
"God Deciding", first song I heard and since then, loved them.

Huh. Apparently I'm the only one who things Fuel For The Hate game is the best place to start. Maybe it's cause it's the first HWM album I heard and I have a special place in my heart for it. Caution would probably be my next choice though.

"Freightliner" is the first Hot Water Music song I've heard, and I still love that song to this day. However, I tend to doze off at certain times while I listen to Fuel For the Hate Game, even though that album still has some great songs. I don't think it's much of an album I would recommend to someone who is listening to them for the first time (aside from "Freightliner"), but maybe the OP will have a different experience than I have with this album.
