View Full Version : Which band?

I discovered fun. through Fuse's free music section, and loved it so much that I bought the whole album and it is to this day AMAZING. So I went and searched Nate Ruess because I knew fun. was just a side project of his, and I found the Format. So I bought Dog Problems and loved it too.
So I wanted to know which do you think is better? Don't take into account the people in the bands. Just the music. Which band's music would you rather listen to?

fun. is awesome, but The Format just about eclipses fun., in my opinion.

This one is soo hard. I think fun has so much potential, and I love Interventions and Lullabies, but I went with fun in anticipation of a new album.

Dog Problems>Aim & Ignite
But, Fun.>Format
... If that makes since. Although, that is mostly because Jack Antonoff is a part of fun. He's great.

They only have two albums so it's not that hard to learn all their stuff. I prefer Dog Problems but Interventions + Lullabies is fine too

I'd start at their album Dog Problems. If you like Fun. then you'll probably like the Format.

It's only been out since August, so it'll probably be awhile. Though I will totally buy their next album (if there is one).

This is really hard. I love them both. The Format was around longer and has more music out, but fun. has a lot of potential, and Aim & Ignite was amazing. I went with The Format.

Mostly because The Format are really bad, and people have told me fun. is also bad. Now learning that there is a connection between the two, makes me want to try them even less.

Hahaha I mean they're not if you like that kind of stuff, I just can't stand it. The guy's voice also annoyed the hell out of me, if I remember properly.

I had to go with the Format just because there's such a larger wealth of material I love by them. Ask me again when fun. has a few more albums and the tides may easily have turned.

I love The Format (I've listened to Dog Problems so many times), but I think fun. is just alright. I don't get all the hype.

true.
I can relate to Dog Problems really well, and have a closer personal attachment to it. I doubt I'd feel the same way for Aim and Ignite, although A&I is a really good album.

I love A&I but haven't really listened to anything by The Format. I will soon though.

The Format, because the discography is much larger, and it is my favorite band.

I got into fun. through Jack's involvement, not Nate's, so I knew Aim and Ignite before I really knew any of The Format stuff outside of a few songs. I've been getting into The Format gradually and like them a lot. Not much is beating "On Your Porch" for me lately. But I think because I knew fun. first and still know them a little better, I'd go with them. For now, anyway.

I love fun. a lot, they're great to put on and calm down to, but I just love The Format so much more because I've grown to appreciate and dissect every aspect of each album they put out over the past few years and have fallen that much more in love with their music.

I said fun. now giving them the benefit of the doubt. If they keep putting out records like Aim & Ignite, then soon they'll have the history that I now have with The Format and be a band that I'll really cherish.

gosh this is tough. fun.'s the gambler is probably my favorite song of all time, but i love all of the format's material as well. their cover of 'do you believe in magic' is also really wonderful.
i think i'll have to go with the format.
