Finally, fucking finally this team is committed to winning.

Savard won't have the same production, but Chara will be solid as usual.
I doubt the Bruins will make the playoffs, but its a step in the right direction.

Everything that's been said leads me to believe that they aren't done signing yet, so I wouldn't count them out yet. Apparently Shanahan or Guerin could end up here and a list of others.

Yea apparently Toronto is making a run for Guerin, Shanny is looking to resign with the Wings and St. Louis going for Weight.

Dave Lewis might help bring Shanny here, plus he lives out here or used to. I used to see him at the gym back in the day.

I hate Chara. Shoulda came to NY. Boston is going nowhere. Even with Savard and Chara. Will they be better? Sure. Will they get into the second round of the playoffs? Nope.

People are underestimating the power of Bergeron.

No no no I'm not questioning Bergeron. I'm questioning the goal tending. Tim Thomas hasn't proven anything. He barely had a .500 season in net and Andrew Raycroft was traded to the Maple Leafs. Hannu Toivenon, the backup, hasn't proven anything either. He was decent at best (9-5-4).
They need a goalie to even come close to making the playoffs.

Anyone who says that Savard won't produce like he did last year is wrong. The guy's got Gretzky-like vision.

He killed the Rangers last season.

savard is overrated.
id put up pretty decent numbers if i played with ilya kovalchuk too.
and hes a liability defensively.

So instead of playing with Ilya Kovalchuk he'll be playing with Glen Murray and Patrice Bergeron. He's going to have over a billion assists this year.

ilya kovalchuk >>>>>glen murray and bergeron
what has murray done the past few years? he had one good year playing with the current MVP of the league, thats it. bergeron is good, i agree, but nowhere near as dangerous as kovy

Murray's still good for at least a 20-30-50 point season.
The Bruin's should pick up Legace. That's probably possible with the signing of Dave Lewis. Their two biggest issues right now are goaltending and offensive depth.

Toivonen will be good, he is better than Raycroft and is considered to be the Bruins goalie of the future. Their defense, now with the addition of Chara is one of the best in the league, a top 6 of Chara, Mara, Brad Stuart, Jurcina, Alberts, and Mark Stuart. Upfront Boyes and Bergeron are only going to get better playing together, and add Sturm to that line. Savard gives them a second line center that theyve needed and put him between Murray and Kessel (who i think is going to be in Boston this year) That leaves a 3rd line for Axelson, Primeau, and Karsums.
I think that roster is good enough to make the playoffs as is. Im hoping that Shanahan ends up signing here which would only improve the offense. And theres a lot of young talent in the Bruins system with players such as Kamus, Krejci, and Lashoff. The Bruins are moving in the right direction and the future looks much brighter than it did yesterday. But theyre the Bruins so im still waiting for management to do something to screw it up.

They dont need Legace, Toivonen will be good. He looked good last year before his injury. Murray now has a center to set him up with the Savard signing, i could see Murray getting 30+ goals (although 20+ goals is more realistic)They hopefully will sign shanahan to help the offensive depth.

I agree with this.
Not as big as the other too but they just added Shean Donvoan I believe. Not a bad pick up.

yeah, the only way shanny leaves detroit is if we don't offer him a contract. so I wouldn't be counting on him going to boston.

Ive heard rumors that Shanahan has said he wants to finish his career in Boston, but those are just rumors so who knows if its true. He would be a great addition but i wouldnt mind seeing him stay in Detroit. Either he's on my favorite team in Boston, or my second favorite in Detroit

yeah. i've always liked shanny but he hasn't ever really been my favorite. i wouldn't be heartbroken if he left, however.
