it's so great...it will probably make my top 10 of '06.
they actually went to a recording studio with real working mics so you can hear them sing as well as differentiate between their instruments unlike the demos.
what did they use before computer mics and a bedroom?

i'm pretty sure it was something like computer mics recording while they played their music in a different room with the door shut.

It's really folky and poppy. It's solid, but nothing spectacular.

i've been listening to a lot of bob dylan and defiance, ohio recently, so I've been digging on folk stuff. that's probably why I love this so much.
i actually did that computer mic thing and in another room with the door shut, it works really good sadly.

interesting... I never had luck using computer mics before, but my set up was pretty bad to begin with.
man tog, i really like this band, you have one of the best taste of music on the forums, but yeah my set up sucks too, i dont have the money and im not spoiled to get the top software or recordng stuff, it passes time and i like to rig my crap. its fun. good band though man.
can't wait to hear this. such a good band.

haha thanks.
yeah it sucks not being a rich kid. I'm stuck using the same type of set up, i assume, that you are. luckily, next semester, I'm going to work for the campus radio station, which has its own recording studio that members of the radio station can use at their leisure as long as it's not being used for campus business...meaning free studio time!

Today, I got 1905 confused with I Would Set Myself On Fire For You. I was looking for the song "control" and for some reason I thought I Would Set Myself... made it.

ha. i used to get bands confused all the time, especially when they were ones I got into at the same time.
the first time I saw rise against, I kept requesting strike anywhere songs.

I'll look at my collection again and see what I can find.
were you wanting someone who sounded like them entirely? or just emo bands using violin or ones that have a good female singer?

Listen to Murder By Death mht. They don't have any screamy vocals but they write epic songs and they have a violin.

Yeah definitely listen to Murder By Death.
Portrait uses a viola/violin and they kind of have a I Would Set Myself On Fire For You-vibe, even though they formed and broke up long before IWSMOFFY did.
is the chick from murder by death from cursive?

Anyone have a few of the songs off of the new album that I can listen to? I have alot of their older stuff and I would be delighted to hear some new material.

i dont know if anyone here is on OiNK, but i uploaded it there a few weeks ago, and its extremely popular. ive loved this band for so long, and theyre some really awesome people, and if you havent yet, they are still touring, and if they come near you, definitely go see them. the new cd is definitely one of my top 10's for this year, actually, top 5 for that matter. theyve bridged out so much in this newest release, so many different elements, but they still are retaining that familiar DIY hardcore emotion that was so heavy on their initial releases. id say if you are looking for similar bands, check out portrait, like togepi said. portraits disco is actually one of my favorite discs of all time as well. other bands to check out would be still life, inkwell, boa narrow...though this new album isnt the same, their first cd drew heavily off of still life, i even talked to stephen about it. this newest cd though, not so much, they just branched out and cover so much more territory with it, its astounding.
if anyone still wants it, i can upload the rip itself to rapidshare or something and post the link here.
