I'm just going to pretty much give examples as I'm not taht good at definitions, especially when pretaining to musical genres.
1. Listen to Sawtooth Grin and Ghenghis Tron. See also the Locusts and old Blood Brothers.
2. Listen to The Bled - Pass the Flask and any As I Lay Dying.
3. I didn't even know this was a genre. I guess one would be inclined to say like.. Atreyu? Just saying their name bothers me though.
4. Fucking Slayer. I don't need to say anything else.
5. Really there are like.. a million different forms of "hardcore". If you want Posi/sXe listen to Good Clean Fun, Champion or (I think) Casey Jones. If you just want straight up hardcore(at least as I see it),but not old school(that's like Minor Threat, Fugazi and Black Flag) listen to like American Nightmare/Give Up the Ghost, Modern Life is War and Killing the Dream.
Also check Wikipedia, they might have some straight definitions.

Eh, there's a few that make no sense.
1) Napalm Death basically invented the genre in the `80s. Grindcore can be synonymous with European black/death metal, but in some cases (Daughters, Locust) not so much. Anal Cunt is a good example.
2) Some of the founders of modern metalcore might be considered early Poison the Well, early 18 Visions, Deadguy, and Botch.
3) Emo was originally short for "emotional hardcore," so "emocore" just essentially drives that point home. My favorite 'emocore' band might be Boysetsfire, though fourfa.com (http://www.fourfa.com) basically just summarizes it as synonymous with emo's `80s forebearers (Embrace, Rites of Spring, Dag Nasty, etc.).
4) Slayer isn't really death metal at all...they were always considered more thrash / heavy metal. They did precede death metal, but death metal really grew out of that. See: At the Gates, early In Flames.
5) Yes, there are different forms of hardcore, though Fugazi is hardly straight-up hardcore. There's your D.C. variety that started it all (Minor Threat), late `80s youth crew, which took influence from that sound and made it a little more catchy but no less fast (Youth of Today, Gorilla Biscuits), the very slightly metal-influenced hardcore that started around the same time (Bold, Judge), the `90s hardcore that took that metal influence even deeper (108), melodic hardcore which Lifetime took inspiration from GB for but really did invent essentially (see also: Kid Dynamite, Ignite [sorta], most Rise Against), straight-edge which is basically just youth crew (GB, Project X, Champion, Betrayed, Casey Jones, etc. al), and posi is basically just youth crew and most straight-edge (Good Clean Fun, xLooking Forwardx). A lot of bands I mentioned can be parenthized for its closely related style. The best example of a straight hardcore band would probably be Bane or AN/GUTG. There's also d-beat, which I know little to nothing about except it was a very abrasive, crusty style essentially created by Discharge and followed most closely today by Tragedy and From Ashes Rise, and might sound like Converge-type metalcore to some. Also apparent in today's circles is the CIV / Kid Dynamite-influenced borderline pop-punk type of hardcore (Shook Ones, the Steal, Set Your Goals comes to mind).

I wasn't saying that those were the definitions or the originators. I didn't mean to give that impression. I was just trying to give some of the more known and listened to bands out there. By no means did I consider myself an expert and as I said, I'm not good with the definitions. I like most of your recs, but some people aren't going to want to bother downloading that much either just to get a "feel" for the genre you know?
Oh and I never really thought of Boysetsfire as emocore. Like I said I've never really heard that term thrown around. I've always just thought of them as one of my favorite bands ever.
Also, Don't take offense haha like I said, just giving a synopsis, not a history lesson.

Impressive.
