View Full Version : Bands you're Excited for in 2010

OneSongRomance

for me there are a few bands that are exciting me going into this year.

I can't wait to hear "Of Mice & Men's" first album

UnderOath will probably start recording for their next album after Warped tour.

Analog Rebellion comes to mind!

What are ya'lls?

So...another favorite bands thread?

Sometime in Feb there's a day that has new albums dropping for Michelle Branch, Rocky Votolato and Rocket Summer. I'm pretty excited for that.

Hey, all the negativity needs to be countered with something! Though someone will definitely lay down the obilgatory "search function" post.

I'm excited to hear the new stuff from both sides of the Oasis camp.

Jimmy Eat World and blink's new releases should both be great, and the AVA album will have to get a listen. I believe Manic Street Preachers are putting something out too, which may be fairly interesting. Gaslight Anthem will be a highlight I'm sure, Radiohead too. Other than that I can't think of much. I'll probably be buying less CD's this year than last, and that's saying something.

Has anyone other that one cat and I been paying attention to Of Mice & Men? They've released two songs from their debut album on their Myspace page and they are pretty cool, my favorite is "Those in Glass Houses". I haven't been this stoked for a new band in all my life. Austin Carlile is a Great front man, I can't wait! And if it's true that UnderOath may be done after one more album, I hope I'm finding the band that is their successor as my favorite band.

I respect Toby Mac, but I just think he's the corniest guy on the face of the planet. In christian Rap, in my own opinion, LeCrae or Trip Lee > Toby Mac. i'm not saying they're better cause obviously record sales speak for themselves, but LeCrae and Trip Lee are both lyrical geniuses. My favorite is LeCrae out of the two. And I've heard LeCrae is doing something with Hillsong. I'm beyond excited if it's true.

You have to understand where they're coming from, though. Sure, Toby is a Christian entertainer, sometimes within rap music, but he's not trying to do what Lecrae and the rest of the 116 Clique are aiming for. Toby aims to entertain and edify the Church; he writes and performs to encourage Christians with his uplifting jams. Christian rappers like the ones you mentioned, on the other hand, have a much more ministry-minded approach, which is why their record label is called Reach Records. On top of this, in spite of the hip hop roots and influence, I wouldn't really consider Toby a "rapper." He's an entertainer, and he's a dang good one.

A Hillsong/Lecrae collaboration sounds really tempting. I hope that's true.

I agree. I am not a fan of Toby Mac's at all but I went to a concert of his in November and was really impressed by his live show. I was even more impressed by how the young people in the crowd that were around my age were really jamming to him. It really shows that there is a bright side to my generation!

Close Your Eyes (http://www.myspace.com/closeyoureyesmusic) is the first band that really jumps to mind. They just got signed to Victory a bit ago, and I'm hoping they really take off and become popular. They've been slaving it out at small shows for way too long and I hope they get popular and have the chance to sell out.

I don't know if you get his newsletter, but he's talked about how he doesn't like the concept of the proper album anymore. He just wants to release standalone songs on his jtunes store and sell custom-selected mixtapes of his work and such.

I kind of hope he intersperses those with proper albums, but I'm losing hope.

Could not agree any more. The album is very important in my opinion, and there is a certain artistic quality about it.

I rarely get individual songs, I almost always buy the CD (or Vinyl). If the album is phased out in the future (which I kind of doubt will happen) I will be greatly saddened.

Pretty much what everyone has been saying so far. The only ones I can think of to add to the list are House of Fools, Pierce The Veil, Arcade Fire, Band of Horses, Death Cab, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Steel Train. Hopefully I'll discover more new music this year too.

I hung out with The Showdown on stickam today and they showed me some of what they've been working on, its going to EASILY be one of the heaviest releases of 2010.

Lyric from untitled song : "Swallow and choke, give up the ghost, NO HOPE. Tear out your eyes, reject this life, NO TRUTH"

Even though already released, gonna see some big things from four year strong, some slightly smaller big things from the wonder years.

Scared, but way more interested in new chiodos than new craig owens, even though they are on tour with bullet for my valentine barf.

Man overboard. Crime in stereo.

Patrick Vaughn Stump muufucka. I think people will be blown away by him. He's playing a solo show at sxsw.

Hmm what else. Oh that band what's their name keith buckley and scott ian and andy hurley etc. I sont remwvber but that should either be cool or shitastic. No middle ground lol.

Idk. Should be a good year. Especially if ke$ha and 3oh!3 get vd from each other and have to stop playing music.

Jack white solo album.

City and colour.

Circa.

Oh, didn't know this was even in the works. I'm not an over the top White fan, but for some reason I like to keep an ear out on all of his musical endeavors. I'm glad you brought this up, cheers mate.
