You smoke like a young Belmondo...
I saw a prescreening of Youth in Revolt tonight. First of all, it was hilarious. Secondly, it shows a Belmondo poster several times that made me want to listen to jj. Cool stuff.
Really into "Things will never be the same again"

This band kicks ass. Favorite songs? Mine:
1. From Africa to Malaga
2. Are You Still in Vallda?
3. Things Will Never Be the Same

I like Superbad quite a bit, very funny movie upon your first few viewings. Cera plays basically the same character in every movie, that's what annoys me. Check out Superbad if you have a chance.

This is what I keep hearing. I think he's been given some breathing room in Youth in Revolt, as he essentially plays two different characters. One is what you'd expect from him, and the other is kind of badass.

Nope.
Wow! Go for it- best show.
My very fav. moment from the record: 0:56 "...you wear your flowers in your hair." The inflection on "hair" kills me. The two voices break and creative this sort of dissonant harmony that I like a lot. Kick ass!
Edit: song is Vallda.

I believe the vocals are a little more prominent this time around, giving the album a fuller sound. To be honest, I'm partial to the debut in this respect. The hushed vocals gave it a more personal vibe.

How does it differ from jj no2?
oddwithoutend
02/03/10, 01:00 PM
The vocals are the biggest difference, from what I can hear. They are more prominent and lack the subtle voice-cracks and side-dialogue displayed on their debut, making the album feel a little less intimate but probably catchier. Needless to say, I like the debut a lot more.

I don't think waiting for Pitchfork is really safe but the Pitchfork review is actually a bit higher than what I would give it, but we were discussing it in the sunonthesand forums the other day, as Brian can tell you, I would give it between a 4-5. What's your thoughts on it?

I would probably give it a 4.5ish, but I dont' really review things so it is hard for me to judge on an exact score. I am probably going to make the week in review thing around 5-6 tonight, so whenever you want you can add to it.
