Here's the history of it:

Roll Call

After the first pitch is thrown in the top of the first inning, the "Bleacher Creatures" in Section 39 begin chanting the names of every player in the defensive lineup (except the pitcher or catcher). They do not stop chanting until the player waves or tips their cap to the Creatures, who then move on to the next player. At the end of chanting the players' names the Bleacher Creatures chant "Box Seats Suck" because they don't like the people sitting in them. Other chants may include "Alc-o-hol-ics" or "(Visiting team) Suck!"(chanted in the same way as "Let's Go Yankees").

ive been in the bleachers for a bunch of games, including that AMAZING July 1, 2004 game against the red sox where they had sheff playing 3rd and arod at short after jeter dove into the stands and all. being a part of the bleacher creatures is fucking awesome, and an experience i'll never forget.
