This movie looks great. I didn't think it was a good idea to make a movie about it, but now I think about it..it's not a big deal. This movie looks so good. It's based on the true story of 2 Port Authority police officers from 9/11 who were trapped and couldn't get out.Staring Nicholas Cage, Maggie Gyllenhall, and Pichael Pena among others.
The trailer for the movie looks fantastic..I really wanna see it.
Here's the trailer..

The digital imaging of the WTC in some of the shots is amazing. Plus, they used some real footage from that day.
"Who's coming with me???"
(Old, unattractive men shy away.)
(Young, attractive men: "WE'RE WITH YA, SARGE!!!")
Yeah, fuck this movie.

ok, this is where the movie makes it's mistake. It decided to make the trailer in the form of a war movie (the attack, the "who's with me", it's got the normal cliche's)...which is the opposite of how you want to advertise this movie.
Between the 6 million flag overlays that this movie will have, and the ridiculous amount of over-the-top heroics they'll portray...I'm already passing my judgement and saying this movie is the biggest mistake since Gigli.
I'll see it, but I won't feel bad walking out 15 minutes in if it show's that trend
Cage's fake accent is horrendeous. No thanks. He does not look like a cop...a computer hacker, yes, an arms dealer, yes, a terrible father, yes, but a cop, not a chance.
I'd also like to call Oliver Stone out. This type of movie is in a similiar vein as JFK...and he was successful with that, but if this movie fails like Alexander did...give up. Alexander was the worst epic I had seen, possibly ever, I wanted those hours of my life back. The more important thing that comes of Alexander is that his casting choices are oddly similiar to those for this movie...he takes a mainstay or two (Farrel, Cage) and uses hot rising actors to fill in the gaps to create interest, while not neccesarily picking the best people for the role. You all but need a NYC actor for the main cop role

of course it wont receive any low marks from critics because then they would be un-patriotic

I think if it's bad enough, it will get ripped, because as easily as reviewers can be called "unpatriotic", the movie-maker can be labeled for creating a sensationalist movie just because they know it will sell

I couldn't agree more. When I saw Colin Farell's chandelier I turned it off.

I loved United 93, but for some reason I don't really want to see this as much.

while I was completely wrong about United 93(amazing film), im not going to fold for this heap. this just looks like shameless exploitation. the slow motion trailer with the swelling music looks rather pathetic.
i watch this trailer, and the only thing i can think about is that somewhere at some point, there was a crowded board meeting, where the question was asked, "how can we make this film legitimate?" and somebody answered "i know, put nicholas cage in it. and give him a moustache too!"
here's the unwritten law from here on out on world trade center movies...no actors who have been more than 2 jerry bruckheimmer films.

Ray Liotta wouldve been perfect for the role, not Cage.

Ray Liotta wouldve been perfect for the role, not Cage. From what I read on IMBD, they originally wanted either Mel Gibson, George Clooney, or Harrison Ford for the role. They chose Cage at the last minute.
I would have went with either of the other three, specifically Mel Gibson. He just seems right for this type of movie. Good call on Liota though, I can totally see him in this.

Its such a horrible attempt by Oliver Stone and them to make money. If they want to make a true movie have accounts from people who were there and experienced everything and maybe even put them in the movie. Don't make some huge hollywood blockbuster that could be further from the truth.

I think that it is way too soon for a movie about the events that occured on that day. I don't care if it is based on a true story or how it is done. I refuse to see this and think Oliver Stone and the studios involved are making a blatant attempt to break the bank.

umm....this is a true story, an account from people who were there and experienced everything. so you might wanna rethink what you just said.
