Hey, I made a thread before just to show people my old band, Mickey Finn, and to see what people thought about those songs. The main reason I uploaded all those old songs online was because there was a chance we were getting together to write some new stuff.... and we did.

"Listen" and the Misfits Medley ("Astro Zombies" and "I Turned Into A Martian") are both demos that we recorded a few days ago. We're trying to get back into the whole music making/show playing thing, and I wanted to see what AP thought of us :)
All of the older songs were recorded when we were between 15-17 years old, and now we're 21-22... a lot has changed, but i hope some of you dig all of it. if you hate it, feel free to say that too. There should be another new song in a week or two, and it's really melodic and slow in comparison to all of this other stuff, haha.
so uh, thanks for checking the music out if you do, and please leave some feedback. :)
(and sorry to make a second thread about this, but the other one is pretty dead, so hopefully i'll get more of a conversation going this time)

considering there rough demos i dont think there too bad, just need a good production and they'd be pretty sweet i reckon.

definitely could be good with some real production
Not bad. I'm not really a massive fan of the genre so there's a limit to what I can offer. Not a big fan of the vocals though.

thanks.
all the older stuff (everything except the first two songs on there) was done in a studio, but we kinda rushed it. the new stuff was basically just recorded live in my dining room, haha.
when we actually make that new album it'll sound a lot better than those do.

Not bad at all. Everything works fine to me, except the lyrics. They could use some more power and roughness. If you do pure clean vocals you need a lot more power to the voice so it won't sound boring. Also there was some problems in finding the right pitch. With a lot of practice you guys could make a really great album, I think.

All of the lyrics were written when I was 14-17 years old. Even "Listen" (we started writing that before we took a looooong break). I've been writing much more melodic/interesting melodies with much more memorable/catchy lyrics. Hopefully you'll dig what we write next.
Thanks for the feedback :)

The songs are fun. Not something I'd listen to all the time, but not bad. As people have already said, you need better recordings, but be careful not to lean too far into overproduction. This style definitely benefits from a somewhat rawer sound. It's really up to you to find the balance that fits the songs best. Keep doing what you're doing, though.

I gave this a try because I love the Misfits. The vocals were horribly off-key on that medley. The other songs are significantly better (Listen was good), but the singer still can't seem to carry a tune. Because of that, this is not something I could listen to for a long period of time. The instrumentation and songwriting isn't too bad for 15/16 year olds though.

Hopefully my vocals on our next few songs will impress you a bit more. Thanks for the input though, I've been working on improving my singing for awhile.
Glad you dig Listen too. That song is going over really well on here and with our friends so far :)

This isn't meant to sound mean, but you do need to have the tone in your vocals match the rest of the song. The vocals aren't horrendous, but they are definitely taking away from the rest of the song.
Practice on keeping in tune with the band, and fluctuating the notes in the vocals, and you could be on to something.

I'll be waiting for the next songs :) And with practice you can really get that pitch perfect. I'd suggest to take a look at the 'Zen of Screaming' -dvd. Even if you're not screaming, it helps your voice alot. At least it did to mine!

The misfits are punk, except michale graves. He is a conservative and a poser. Misfits fans aren't punk.

Your band reminds me of a cross between Cannibal Corspe, ABBA, A thumbtack, and a hobo playing a ukele
