View Full Version : 2*Sweet Hit The Studio

2*Sweet (http://www.myspace.com/2sweet) is one of the bigger local bands from the city of Chicago that really reminds me of Set Your Goals and The Movielife. It also appears that the band is a heavy favorite of none other than Chicago's greatest "Hey Chris."
They just wrapped up a week long tour with the band Fireworks ( http://www.myspace.com/fireworkshca) a few weeks ago. 2*sweet went into the studio July 4th and 5th to record some songs for their EP which should be out sometime in the month of August.
The guys of 2*sweet may be new to the chicago pop punk scene but have been around Chicago hardcore for a while now playing with bands such as: Left Hand Path, Not Enough Gold, Down Like The Rest, and Undo Tomorrow. They will be touring with Driving East in August, dates to come soon!

it's a joke.
p.s. some people are being kinda mean to these guys. they're insanely amazing dudes who are insanely nice. ok, maybe you don't like their music...but to some people it means a shit load to them.
i loooooove 2*Sweet. just...be a little more respectful please?
...band name aside, whether or not they are good dudes aside... even talent aside... Who the fuck compaired this band to set your goals or movie life?... i hear more movielife in dashboard confessional than in these guys... and as for set your goals... your joking right? I mean, if it was a ploy to get me to check them out, it worked, but really if someone thinks 2*sweet sounds like SYG or movielife, they are either retarded, deaf, or dumber than shit...

So at first I thought they were just a joke, too. And, yeah, the first few songs needed some tweaking. But have you really sat down and listened to their most recent stuff? Just give them a chance, guys. Maybe a little catchy pop-punk is just what we need. Plus, they're really cool dudes.

haha ok I actually originally wrote this post and there was no way in hell I compared them to the movielife. It was definitely edited. They are nice guys and 5 of the most incredibly talented dudes I have met. So everyone should get past the band name which is a JOKE by the way and everyone should shut the fuck up until they listen to this band let alone see them play a show.
Also whoever commented above saying that they have seen 2*s play and don't like them, obviously you do not know what you are talking about. This band is going to be one of the next biggest things to come out of Chicago and I am sorry you have horrible taste in music and you don't know what you are talking about.
With all that said everyone should just check them out at least once. So don't talk shit about a band you obviously know NOTHING about.

Yeah....not even a little bit good, and I even paused Gunmoll for this. Though the posts are kind of funny and slightly make up for it. Only slightly.

Ok...i'm from chicago. I have also been listening to local bands for close to 9 years. Seeing bands like spitalfield, fall out boy, plain white t's etc leave this town and I just don't see 2sweet in this category. Not saying they're bad or not nice guys, but their music doesn't stick out to me. I have seen them live and will probably see them live again soon...but to say their the next big thing that's gonna come from chicago is nuts. So again, I'm not saying not to check them out, you def should...but they aren't unique enough, in my mind, to take off and blow up. Also, don't post bands on here and expect everyone to like them...no matter what band you post, your gonna find lovers and haters...so just realize everyone has their own opinions and don't fight about it....I'm taking off...so yea..agree with me or hate me...which ever....keithVLK

and there are some fucking awesome things happening in chicago. blacktop mourning is going to be huge, they got a new leadsinger and hes fucking the shit. valiant is pretty good, and they are all young. Just Left is another young band with lots of potential, and there is something about the acoustic artist keep in touch that makes me think he's something special after much work. mainly, blacktop mourning. they are sick

I know..some people can be harsh, but i just try to take it in stide and continue on...but yea...they are cool guys
and...the person above two above, or maybe it was three above me, cant remember...do you really think that Blacktop Mourning is gonna make it big? I mean, of course, if they buy their way up there they might...what they've done to their past members is bullshit..I will never support them...much like the audition...musically i like them..but as human beings, audition (as well as a few other chicago local bands), are complete ass holes and dont derserve an ounce of fame..but i guess if you dig deep enough youll find dirt any where...and as for just left..again...awesome awesome guys to talk to and see live...but they arent anything amazing that will blow up...of course, many bands from chicago might go on and sign with some small indie label that no ones heard of, but i dont see any local chicago bands, at the moment, blowing up and eventually going major, nothing is so unique in the current scene that any bigger labels are jumping at to sign...so yea...my two cents that no one likes anyways...see ya...keithVLK

Chicago right now is a pretty rad place to be for bands, tons of competition though. Good venues. A band can go anywhere if they have enough drive, passion, talent, and work ethic. I personally with my own band have always tried to keep it fresh with new bands in Chicago, every headlining Metro show we play we throw a brand new band or 2 on that has never played there before, so far we have hooked up about 16 really rad bands with their first shows either in Chicago or @ the Metro. I just wish Chicago was alot tighter and actually had a scene. I notice the Burb bands like FOB, Academy is, october fall, June, all those band stick together and it rules, maybe one day the actual Chicago bands will start working together instead of trying to out do eachother. 2 sweet are great guys and i wish them the best.
Check out these chicago bands. In my opinion i think they are all good.

from everything i have gathered, blacktop mournings old singer quit the band because his parents didnt want him to sign a major label...i mean how could u think they arent gonna get big, theya are all over mtv reality shows and what not (just like fallout boy was 4 years ago) and are a really hard working band who plays every opportunity for a show they can. the graduate isnt a chicago band, but representin the IL they are sick. and Keep In Touch is signing this summer, and those demo's are fun once you listen to them a few times... i mean its been around 2 months and that kids already playing with The Scene Aesthetic. Just Left prolly wont get anywhere, your right on that. The New Diet is pretty cool too i would say..... hit me back!

Hey kev...i know dude....i totally appreciate what you guys do as a band...you guys are really awesome and have helped out so many bands in the chicago scene, including my buddies in A Fading Memory. But yea, Bands like you and Escape from earth, and LBC have helped so many smaller local bands and i know that its greatly appreciated by those bands. But if anything I see you guys leaving chicago and not 2*sweet...nothint against them...i'm just saying by catchiness and uniqueness...but thats what i think..ps, Do you know what happened to miles from midnights singer? Raul is no longer on their site :(
and as for the other person, If you only knew the truth about blacktop...dont believe everything a band has to tell you about their departed members...not always true...and, again there are alot of bands played in the background of MTV....doesnt mean because mtv likes a 30 second clip of your songs that your gonna make it big...and dont say they are ALL OVER mtv...they have the same short repeated clip in like 10 shows...and its amazing what money can buy you these days...but yea..im done for right now
