Thinking about going back to school....

So, I am currently almost 5 years out of school (grad w/ a BS in Crim), and thinking about going back. I have been working in sales since I have came out of school, however within the last 6 months, booked 2 gigs for decently known artists in my home town. I decided to dive head first into something I have no former experience with, because I know where my passion lies-I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING IN MUSIC. It has now come to a point where I am putting in enough time into the music thing, where it is effecting my work production in the office. I want to be ahead of the game, so I have begun to think about my options should I leave work. Basically, it is hustle around the contacts I have made to try and find work, or go back to school.

I came here to find out suggestions of those whole majored and got a degree, please specificy UNDERGRAD or GRAD. I am interested in obtaining a degree in something related to MUSIC BUSINESS, or MARKETING.

I am also interested in INTERNSHIPS you may have done, as well as JOB PLACEMENT CENTERS at your respective school

You could go into doing public relations for a band--that might work. It would be something similar to marketing. I myself have a bachelor of arts in journalism with a public relations minor and I've thought about something similar. I know my friend has a pr degree and he's thought about doing representation for bands or album artwork/covers because he's really big into photography.

What I could suggest is that if you have any copies of any fliers or anything pertaining to you booking gigs, start putting together a portfolio. Put together a resume as well. Make a list of contacts that you have in the music business or around your area. Continue doing work with the bands/artists that you have in your area. Maybe they know more people who need help getting their name out there.
