I think the Cowboy D is playing too well, and I think the Saints have had enough time to come up with a good enough game plan with the bye to stop the Cardinals.

Cardinals over Saints -- Risking pick but I think it's finally Kurt Warner's time to shine.
Colts over Ravens -- I see Colts destroying the Ravens
Cowboys over Vikings -- I just want to see Brett Favre lose.
Chargers over Jets -- Chargers are my Super Bowl pick.

I'm here to defend the Vikings all day. NFL pundits think Minnesota has no chance to win next weekend even though:
#1: They are 8-0 at home this year (Dallas is only 5-3 on the road).
#2: An extra week of rest will do wonders to heal up their ailing offensive line.
#3: Adrian Peterson.
Do you really trust Tony Romo and Wade Phillips to get Dallas out of the second round? Really? They're not playing in Jerry Jones' billion dollar playground this week...

They also lost arguably their best player. The Vikings had a week to rest up injured players (Mckinnie and Loadholt especially), don't have to travel, and Brett Favre is playing the smartest football of his career. I see it being a close game (and relatively low scoring) with the Vikings on top.

Wes Welker is not the Pats best player. Vital player but not their best.
i would love it if Favre threw like 4 or 5 picks this game, people would hop right off that train.
foofiter02
01/12/10, 02:14 PM
Still, they lost a huge offensive weapon where the Vikings have all theirs intact. The threat of Peterson running means you have to stack the line, leaving less guys to cover Rice, Harvin, Berrian, Shaincoe, Taylor... you get my point. The Vikings have no excuses if they lose with that kind of firepower. The defense is equally as stacked. There's a reason this team has 10 pro bowlers on it (Harvin and Shiancoe have since been added).

I don't care who's playing QB for the Vikings as long as they win the Superbowl. I've been a fan since 1991, so while it pains me to see bandwagon Favre fans or have people assume I've only bled purple and gold this year, I'll gladly take it all if they bring home the Lombardi trophy.
well if guys like big Jay Ratliff and Anthony Spencer are still playing above their caliber football, that offense of the Vikings won't have it easy.
I know the Cowboy's secondary does not get that many interceptions, but they are a decent coverage team. I think the Vikings offense will have to earn it harder than some of you think.
foofiter02
01/12/10, 02:22 PM
They'll have to earn it for sure. I'm just saying that they have the pieces to make that happen. With the way the Cowboys have been playing, the Vikings will need to be firing on all cylinders to pull out a win. I think they will.

Cowboys over Vikings- They're on a roll. Tony Romo is playing his best football, the defense has been incredible and they're the hottest team right now. Sure, the Vikings have good players at most key positions, but the Cowboys do too. If you compare all positions I'd say that the Cowboys beat the Vikings in every position except the defensive line as a whole. I've got a feeling that Adrian Peterson will go back to dropping the ball and Favre will have an off-game.

Peterson is running the ball with more care since that costly fumble against the Bears. You better believe that protecting it will be his #1 priority when he gets his carries. As for Favre, remember that December swoon that was supposed to happen? Remember how was going to play like he was 40? No matter how Diva-like his antics are off the field are, he plays with more heart than 99% of the NFL. He came back to win a Super Bowl. Now he's got the team that gives him his chance.

Yeah, I'll take the cowboys whose defense completely shut down two of the highest scoring offenses in the nfl. And who is the brains behind that amazing D you might ask...Wade Phillips. They shut down the eagles who are one dimensional. The Vikings are extremely balanced and won't have Favre dropping back every three downs. And is Favre not playing the best football of his career? Just sayin... This will not be Cowboys beating the Eagles repeat. It'll be a good game.

Cardinals @ Saints
Offense vs. Offense. I would like to see Warner square off with Favre, but ultimatley, I think the Saints, even though playing poorly as of late, will win. Brees must be salivating after watching the Cards defense last week vs. the Pack.
Ravens @ Colts
Defense vs Manning. Im sorry, but Peyton is in a league of his own. Can go 99 yds in under two mins, on the final drive, and not break a sweat. Colts in a close one.
Cowboys @ Vikings
Tough. Cowboys are playing great football, and Romo is looking like he still is the future QB for the Cowboys. But the Vikings have it all. Pass, Run, Defense and Special Teams. Brett Favre belongs in Disneyland, hes got magic in him. Ima go Vikings
Jets @ Chargers
Chargers. Revis can only shut down one guy. The Jets D is good, but, nobodys been able to stop Rivers and co. Chargers big.

It will be a good match-up, that's for sure. I think Dallas will win because they have alot of weapons and a lot of great players at key positions. Running game could be anybody's, depends which team is on their game, because we both know that both Dallas and Minnesota can have good and bad games running. Passing, I'm going to have to go with Dallas, with Romo being on a hot-streak right now and having 3 major threats. Minnesota has Favre, who's been pretty solid, but not as good as he was at the start of the season and has one major threat and two other decent players to get the ball to. Defensively, both teams have been doing great against the run, but struggling with defending from the pass. Overall, I think Dallas has it. Oh, and next time you want to have an argument with somebody, try being a little more constructive, because when you call me a "kid" and you tell me to "get the fuck outta here" you look like an idiot and it's hard to take you seriously.

lol @ whoever thinks the pats would have won if they had welker. his replacement scored the only 2 touchdowns, you would have to erase those and im pretty sure with the way the pats played that day, welker would not have scored 34 points
also looks like i was right last week when i said the bengals couldnt recover in 6 days from their spanking they got in the meadowlands, whether they laid down or not, there was no way that after being shut down in week 17 carson palmer and chad ochocinco would play well less than a week later against the same team.
i got colts winning (cmon, no one beat them all year, at least give them one playoff win)
chargers over jets (jets have one more miserable loss in them before the season ends)
nfc i honestly have no clue, depends what team shows up, based on the cardinals defense against green bay, drew brees might have a field day. ill just say vikings because i hate the cowboys

Sorry, I must have missed where I backed off from my original points. Hmmm...... Where did I say that Choice was a better runningback than Taylor? Felix Jones is though. I don't think Taylor has much of an impact in the Minnesota offense anymore. He used to, but he hasn't done anything special this year. I think Choice adds dynamic to the Cowboys offense. He may not have big stats, but he's definitely an asset to the team.

Colts over the Ravens
Jets over the Chargers (AFC championship will be a game like super bowl 3)
Cowboys over vikings - the vikings offense cannot account for spencer, ware, ratliff, brooking. you can only double team so many guys and then you leave a few key one-on-one matchups that the vikings O-line will not be able to handle. Bret will be looking up at the lights all game long.

on an hourly basis i hear people jump on his dick about how he's the best player in football. on what level? sure, he can break a big rush at any time, but so can Chris Johnson without the fumbles. as a halfback, your number one job is to protect the ball. AP almost entirely on his own lost the game in Chicago late in the season with a careless fumble, and a team that turns the ball over doesn't win championships.

Chester Taylor could have had a similar impact on that game given the opportunity. Peterson fumbled the ball that gave the Bears the game winning drive...football is the ultimate team sport, but he was the goat of that game, and I'm sure if you asked him he would take full responsibility for the loss. Halfbacks just don't matter as much in the NFL anymore as far as big name guys. Look at Philly, they lose Westbrook and McCoy comes in and does a better job than Westbrook has done in the last 3 years. The last 4 teams in the NFL to lose an All-Pro halfback from the year before to injury had a new back come in and rush for 100 yards in the next 3 games. The league is about quarterbacks, wide receivers, and defenses more than anything now. Not to say that having a great halfback isn't an advantage, but it doesn't mean as much as having a great one of these other things.
Other reasons he is overrated-- these reasons aren't his fault, but everyone and their dog talks about how godly he is and how he is bar none the best player in football. It just really gets old because I really don't think he is.

At Westbrook's peak he averaged basically 5yds/carry and 10yds/catch....McCoy is at 4yd/carry and 7yd/catch...big difference there, and then you have to add in TD's, where he was scoring 3x as many as McCoy did this year. Westbrook was basically a guaranteed 2000yds between his carries and catches...and that was even with missing a game or two.
You definitely could argue that with time, McCoy will be as good as Westbrook was at his peak...but in terms of stepping in and being what Westbrook was at his peak, definitely not this year, though he was pretty good

when the fuck did I ever say he wasn't good? he's possibly the second best back in the game as far as talent goes. people just praise him and hype him and don't even comment on him being first or second in the league every season in fumbles. you are an idiot for not reading my argument, i guess.

Mccoy in
2009: 4.1 yards per carry
Westbrook in
2007: 4.8 yards per carry
2008: 4.0 yards per carry
2009: 4.5 yards per carry
yup totally better than westbrook
right on par with Westbrook then. he revived a team that was struggling and they got hot again when he got the starting job. my point with that fact was that this is not a running back oriented game. when you ask someone who the best player in the game is, they usually say AP. he simply isn't the best player, or even the most important. when I say he is very overrated, all I mean is that he doesn't deserve all the praise he gets.
guccimaneburrrr

pretty sure almost every analyst/commentator make mention of his fumbling problem.
also, everybody i talk to speak of how good AP could be if he stopped fumbling
the bottom line is that you're a packers fan and you're obviously going to have some bias regarding AP and/or any vikings player

a halfback with a fumbling issue? what other issues do you need? for someone to call him "the best halfback in the league" on a normal basis, but he leads the league in fumbles every season (or is at least in the top 2 or 3)? that's similar to saying "this halfback has only one problem, and that is holding onto the ball" that's his job.

well you said there were many more reasons why he is overrated and i just want to hear what they are
that's only one of the many reasons he's the most overrated player in the game.
on an hourly basis i hear people jump on his dick about how he's the best player in football. on what level? sure, he can break a big rush at any time, but so can Chris Johnson without the fumbles. as a halfback, your number one job is to protect the ball. AP almost entirely on his own lost the game in Chicago late in the season with a careless fumble, and a team that turns the ball over doesn't win championships.
newfoundmichael
01/14/10, 05:51 PM
well you said there were many more reasons why he is overrated and i just want to hear what they are
i've already said...if you ask anybody who watches football who the most important players on their team are...the two consistent answers you will get are Peyton Manning (justifiably, in my opinion) and AP. i could name 10 guys off the top of my head that are more important to their team than him. If AP missed the entire season this year, the Vikings still would have made the playoffs with Chester Taylor at halfback. They may have lost a couple more games, but they'd be in for sure. People overvalue him. All I ever hear is how "big of a beast" he is, or, "best player in the league hands down." Maybe that is just around my area of America, but it seems to be a universal.
Other than that, I think he's a great player. Definitely a top 3 back in the league, but you just never see the same hype come from a guy like Chris Johnson or Steven Jackson who are just as good if not better.

I think all the home teams are gonna win this weekend. After all, they have had a bye and are well rested. Personally, I don't believe that the Cards are gonna have a chance with the Saints. After a small slide the Saints are gonna be coming out firing, and I expect Brees to have at least 3 td passes. I also think Minnesota is gonna be able to handle the Cowboys too. Should be a good game but Favre will do well under pressure. For the AFC, Indy is gonna be all over the Ravens. Baltimore isn't gonna be able to run over the Colts D like they did the Pats last week. And to finish up, the Chargers are absolutely gonna hammer on the Jets. Chargers all the way to the Super Bowl baby!!

There's a better chance Ray Ray was guilty than OJ in my opinion haha. Dude's a psycho.
I'd like to think if that white clown never fumbled after that nice catch and run, that this game would be closer.

lol acquitted =/= innocent.
Yeah but no evidence other than him being there does. The witnesses testified that he tried to stop the fight. He may have been guilty, but no evidence was produced to prove anything otherwise.

Wonder if there's any chance the Vikings might make a move for him if Farve retires for good.
Doubt it given they traded for a QB last off-season - I could see them possibly drafting one though.

Well they traded for what's his face who was supposed to contend for the starting job but then signed Farve anyway. Don't think it would stop them for trading for Kolb if they are interested.

I know, but there's no real point to get another unproven guy to battle it out with Rosenfels (aka what's his face) and Jackson if Favre retires. Again, I could see them draft someone and bring them along and/or get another proven guy (although I don't know who), but there's no reason for Kolb.
