There will always be people denying that P!ATD and FOB are emo- but the public and the media will always refer to them as emo, so I just accept it. To me, they do sound emo anyways- they have that typical emo lyric/vocal style to them. I mean, when you hear a band with that style nowadays- you just know right away that their emo.

Here's where I rant. I am so tired of the word "emo." I've been saying this is bogus for years (and in my signature ;)). Everyone just figures that a band with "emotional" or "pussy" lyrics is emo. What the hell? Music has been emotional and about girls since it began. When did "emo" change from Rites of Spring, SDRE, and The Promise Ring to Fall Out Boy?! Fall Out Boy is a pop/punk band. That is it. They are in the same genre as Blink 182 and MxPx. How can Jimmy Eat World, The Get Up Kids, Hawthorne Heights, Thursday (how the hell are they emo?), Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, and Dashboard Confessional be in the same genre?! They all play such different styles. Speaking of Dashboard Confessional, no matter what anyone says they are not a PUNK band. Jesus. Even Alt Press calls them a "punk" band in the last issue. There is nothing punk about them, at all. If anything, they're more soft rock and pop than punk. Mixed up music genres piss me off so much. Why is August Burns Red in the punk section at FYE? Why is metal often called screamo just because it has screaming in it? Emo + screaming = screamo. That's how it used to be. Metal fits nowhere in there. I could go on forever. Fuck it. If someone wants to explain this all to me, and how it makes sense, please do.
