ZAO's (http://www.absolutepunk.net/zao) newest album The Fear That Keeps Us Here has had the biggest two weeks of any ZAO album over their eleven year history. The album debuted on Billboard Magazine's Top New Artist Chart (Number 12) and Top Hard Music Chart (Number 42). Recorded by the legendary Steve Albini (Nirvana, High On Fire, Neurosis), the album recalls the dark experimentalism of fan favorite Liberate Te Ex Inferis fused with the rock n' roll of Self Titled and Parade Of Chaos and the heavy metal mastery of The Funeral Of God.
Longtime guitarist Scott Mellinger and singer Daniel Weyandt, together with the new rhythm section of Jeff Gretz (drums) and former tour manager Marty Lunn (bass), have crafted their most fully realized work.
The band who have influenced such bands as diverse As I Lay Dying, Fall Out Boy and Thrice have sewn up a massive summer schedule of tours. Having just finished a highly successful run supporting and In Flames, Trivium and Demon Hunter, ZAO will be part of the "Pure Hostility" U.S. tour with Throwdown and Evergreen Terrace.

Am I the only that thinks this album is terrible? Bad production.

The production is like that on purpose...it sounds like Zao albums in past years, especially Parade of Chaos and Liberate... that's what they were going for, and I think it's kind of cool how raw they kept it, especially with how overdone Funeral of God was.

well.....steve albini produces his albums to have a kinda gritty sound to them from what ive noticed.......its basically a throwback to zaos earlier work.....it also reminds me of nirvanas in utero......but then again thats another album steve albini produced. i guess you would have to be a fan of the producers work to apreciate this album.

I wouldn't say the new album is terrible, like you said the production isn't that great. The distortion in the vocals doesn't really do it for me either.
It's not there best disc, but its a step up from Funeral of God.
