View Full Version : The American Idol Auditions Thread

I look forward to this time each year. Watched the audition show last night and discovered how awful some Bostonians are at singing.
My personal favorite was the first entrant, who talked about how she learned to sing by playing the American Idol video game. She was AWFUL, but fun and energetic. At least she walked away happy rather than acting like she was gonna kill herself. Her short shirt that showed off her belly was quite disgusting, as well...
Two questions: Who was your favorite audition thus far? and What song would you sing at an AI audition? (if you get the chance, go to (http://thepaintedman.brookiellen.com/your-american-idol-audition/)http://thepaintedman.brookiellen.com/your-american-idol-audition/ (http://thepaintedman.brookiellen.com/your-american-idol-audition/) and enter your choice for a chance to win free music)

The second guy, Pat, was my favorite.
"Holla!"

Pat definitely was funny too.
How about the guy who looked like a Latino Latoya Jackson?
Or the Anime chick who said that singing was her life and kepy telling Simon, "We'll see."

What is this post?
A thread about the American Idol Audition Shows, the only part of AI worth watching.
Didn't feel like it could simply be put in the American Idol thread, as it is totally it's own beast.

I thought Andrew was pretty funny. The dude with glasses that Kara literally told she couldn't stand.
I'm trying to think who my actual favorite was.

I didn't think last night's episode was THAT entertaining. It had its moments though. I'm obviously excited for tonight of course.
Haven't watched last night's episode yet, but I recorded it and will watch it soon. If I were to sing a song for an audition though, I'd probably do "Keep It Loose, Keep It Tight" by Amos Lee.

Not familiar with that song. Is your name after the song by The Stryder perchance?

My favorite one was the one that came out and spoke words and then sung words and the judges were like eehhh and nope and the person just said okay and then they said goodbye. that's it.

My favorites auditions were Andrew, the guy with the glasses that Kara hated, the kid that did Womanizer, and the first girl that thought just because the game told her she was good she should actually audition.
I think the best of the night was the 16 year old girl that did Hallelujah.

Just watched now. The 16-year-old whose Grandma has Alzheimer's is the best IMO.

You should listen to it then. And no, I just picked it because it's referenced in a lot of songs and supposedly lucky haha.

The other person that I like was that one guy in the green shirt who was being really nice and the judge made fun of him. The Jim Morrison look-alike dude was memorable too
Most talented from the first night was the guy who had cancer and also the 16yr old.
Favorite was the pissed off guy with the glasses

Nobody sang Great Lake Swimmers...that would have been even better. They were just playing GLS in the background during a story on one of the contestants.
My pick for the year is the guy who sang "What If God Was One Of Us" or whatever. Really liked him. J Sellers or something

finally finished the 2nd episode....at this point I'm sick of all the shit singers that make it through to tv just as a joke (if they play that pants song again I'm done with the show). It might have been funny in the early seasons, but I'd rather the time be spent showing all the people that made it though to hollywood, rather then seeing them jump around at the end with their golden tickets. Maybe its good that this is the final season with the original set up.
that said my favorites so far are the black guy that worked in the choir at his church....I think he's the strongest so far that doesn't have a cookie cutter voice. I also liked the redneck chick with the fat mamma. She may lack the confidence to go far.

Andrew Garcia, for sure. And the girl with the brown hair and the black dress right after him. Wish I knew her name.
Also, by default, I like the guy last week that sang "Trouble" by Ray LaMontagne.
If I auditioned I'd probably sing "Put Your Records On" by Corrinne Bailey Rae or something by KT Tunstall. Or "Jolene" by Dolly Parton. I have thought about this a lot, haha, I'm kind of an AI addict.
Katy Perry was an awesome judge.

Did anyone else notice the girl that cried over Sanjaya back in 2007 auditioned? They didn't show her actual audition, but they did show her crying once again. Also, I think Daniel Franco from Project Runway was on; he claimed to be a mix of Adam Lambert and Susan Boyle.
