One of my best friends from high school is a furry.

He was always really weird dating all the way back to elementary school and never had any girlfriends or anything like that. He has always had a thing for wild life, his dad is a hunter and his house is full of like deer heads and shit like that. We were in a band together our senior year and the first year of college and one girl who would always goto our shows was really into him. I guess she asked him out or something and he told her he was gay and had a boyfriend on the internet and they roleplayed as a fox and a falcon. After the band split up I stopped talking to him and Fox and Falco from Star Fox became a really big inside joke between me and my group of friends.

We started hanging out again for a bit and then got into another arguement and that was it. A few months ago I got in contact with a mutual friend asking for his phone number and he ended up texting me and he finally admitted to being a "furfag" as he put it. He says the furry culture is "misunderstood" and he enjoys "suiting up for cons". Haven't spoken to him since.

I think it's fucking weird.

edit: He also said there is nothing sexual about it. These people just goto conventions and compete in shit like the "fur-lympics" and costume contests and other weird shit like that. I also have no idea if the whole Fox and Falco thing ever had any truth to it but to this day it is still a funny inside joke between me and my buddies.
