Below is a statement from Motion City Soundtrack (http://www.absolutepunk.net/motioncitysoundtrack) in regards to what's brewing between them and Silverstein (http://www.myspace.com/silverstein) while on Warped Tour.
Despite our best efforts to keep this a private matter, it has recently been brought to our attention that people have been hearing the rumors about a beef between us and Silverstein... Sooooooo, without going into too many details, we just wanted to set the record straight and come clean...YES, there is a beef between us and Silverstein (and their crew). There is a problem and we're going to deal with it appropriately, trust us. In good time, the truth of this matter will come out and we are sure that you will see who the real victims are... For now, our lawyers have advised us not to go into any details about this. We can however assure you that this isn't your typical, run-of-the-mill beef either... This is a much bigger issue that transcends whether or not someone likes a band's music or not. But we're not going to settle this in the press. This is going to be settled on Warped Tour, and that is that.

this year's warped tour is no more volatile than prior years probably. the fact of the matter is that there are more media outlets (MTV taking notice to shit now, endless numbers of web/print zines) for this type of bullshit now than ever before. In the past we all know that there was shittalk against fall out boy by other warped bands and I believe it was a few years back when Lars Frederiksen shit-talked something corporate (I believe it was Lars Frederiksen, memory sucks today!) by saying he is sick of bands that think they are punk yet come out and play a piano while wearing flip-flops. Shit-talk, beef, drama, whatever you call it... you gather that many bands together all at once... you are going to have differing opinions and personalities. However, the fact that lawyers are in this makes this a bit different and possibly a bit more legit. also, NOFX has shittalked so many bands over their warped years it isn't even funny anymore. Congrats to UO for taking the high road.

Silverstein aren't that great but i'd rather listen to them than a handful of other bands, and they are nice dudes, like a year ago, Shane Todd would personally mail anyone who asked him via his email on there site, a burned cd of there old shit. Not that there old shit is any good but it's still a VERY nice gesture, in my opinion. And MCS seem to be some of the nicest guys too.

But who knows? it defiently makes my day more interesting reading about warped tour drama. So I hope they shed some more light on this in the incoming days

My guess is that one of Silverstein's staff broke and/or took something without asking. MCS probably asked them about it and Silverstein defended them. Thus taking it up in court at a later date.

this was found in the motion city merch tent at warped, and at silverstein's they have a similar one saying "motion shitty soundtrack"

its definately just a joke between the two bands, or maybe just their crew. no way would they be that childish if they were serious about this. i find it all pretty damn funny

First, MCS is bigger than Silverstein. They were both at flipside and MCS was a headliner, Silverstein was not.
Second, a guy I know played a show with Silverstein a while back and said they were extremely cocky and rude the entire time backstage.
Third, the MCS guys are extremely nice and down to earth.

Music wise...MCS>>>>>>>>>Silverstein. IMO

i heard from a friend of a friend's cousin that silverstein shot a couple of nuclear warheads at mcs, but said they were only testing them. this made mcs very mad and now they are meeting with joan jett to see what actions are to be made.

I believe it was a few years back when Lars Frederiksen shit-talked something corporate (I believe it was Lars Frederiksen, memory sucks today!) by saying he is sick of bands that think they are punk yet come out and play a piano while wearing flip-flops.

I'm pretty sure it was Matt Skiba who said that.
