The men's singles final will be AMAZING.

I can't believe you took the time to do that AMAZING thing. I like tennis. It should be good, but if it's on the same time as France - Italy, I won't be watching. And if it's after, I'll be drunk.

man i'm looking forward to this, this 1-2 punch is just dominating everyone at the moment. it's such an odd rivalry because their both experts on such different surfaces yet it's always the same two in every final, regardless of surface
i hope federer will win. If Nadal wins, i think we need to start calling him the best player in the world.

why? Federer beat Nadal on Nadal's best surface.

i genuinely have no idea which way this will go, but it's bound to be one of the best wimbledon finals in years

What other sport has people competing for up to 2 and half hours for 2 or 3 times a week? What other sport can have one person on the verge of victory and then have the match carry on for another 2 hours?
It's quite the opposite of queer.

I doubt it, he still hasn't impressed greatly at the US of Aussie Open. But he'll be a hell of a lot closer. I actually already made a thread about this, but it got about two pages and then just went downhill haha.

In a way it's kind of bringing the game down, as all grand slam are not very open at the moment in the mens game, althought in the women's game, the semi-finalists were all of the top 4 seeds.

i agree, i usually bash the women's game because it is predictable, you always have two of the top 6 or so seeds in the finals. But the men's game is becoming worse because it seems like you can pencil in Nadal and Federer for the finals.

when was that? Nadal has beaten federer like five times in a row.

Am I the only one who doesn't give two shits about tennis? It's easily one of the most boring sports to watch and the only entertaining thing is Sharapova's "URHGHHHHHHHHGHGHGHGHGRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRR" at every swing.

i offically am confused. I meant the other way around, and Nadal hasn't beat Federer on Federer's best surface.

I didn't see tons of it, seeing as I was in town looking for jobs.

a baseball fan calling tennis boring? haha, just kidding. I love to watch tennis but maybe because i played in college and still play. Honestly, i think it is one of those sports that does not translate well to tv (like hockey). You really can;t tell how fast the ball is going and with how much spin they hit. It is amazing. If you have a chance to go to a tournament, i suggest going, it would change your mind. The speed is rediculous. I have seen a 120 mph serve in the first person (aka my opponent hitting one) and i dont even know how i got my racquet on the ball.

Maybe it's my bias against non-team sports (golf, tennis, etc). I don't think any of those translate well to television.

i've got a feeling that federer isn't going to drop a set tomorrow. may be wishful thinking but i actually don't see it being that close. i think this moment has been building for him and that he needed the grass to really turn it around for himself against nadal.

both federer & nadal have already qualified for shanghai, man that's crazy how early they've qualified the last couple years, i used to love the last few months of calendar competition because the top 10 or 12 would be all going hard to try qualify

If you play tennis you understand how good these players are. The speed, spin, and accuracy that these players have is insane. I figured Federer would pull this match out as it was on grass.

yeah i figured federer would pull this out.
anyway, this is the new tennis rivarly. macenroe (sp, sorry) was right as usual, these guys are going to bring up the excitement in tennis. Federer dominates basically everyone, but nadal has consistantly beat him. i expected federer to win today, but when nadal gets some more experience on grass and federer practices more on clay this will get really intense.

but i'm really proud of rafael taking a set of him.
especially on grass.
next year's wimbly is going to be awesome.
[hopefully more serve and volley-ers will come up].
p.s. i'd love an official tennis thread.

according to Sport Illustrated (an american sports magazine), the average number of towels stolen during Wimbleton (apparently from players) is 2,500, with a cost of $111,000 or roughly £70,000 maybe a little less.
I was suprised that they cost that much and that so many were stolen.
Anybody know if they are really nice towels?
