I thought about putting this in the Entertainment, but I figured here it would be better and it is sports related so I thought it would fly.

Only 11 more days until the release on July 18th and I cant wait. I have been a huge fan since 2002 and enjoyed last years quite a bit, still playing it actually.

So, who plans on picking it up and what team will you be rolling with?

Hopefully this thread will get pretty active since I love this game know others so.

I disagree, 2004 was the best game in the series so far. Running was challenging and the passing game was balanced out. You could complete short passes but the long bomb wasnt too easy as it is in 2006. I love 2006 though and I am still playing it.

I generally do a Michigan State dynasty and then i'll pick a terrible team to start a complete other dynasty. a team like buffalo or temple or something.

This year they had a team that's only job was to watch film of every team. Each teams playbook is up to date and special to them like never before. All playbooks have been expanded by like 30% or somehting now too.

They added 87 new offensive and 16 new defensive formations, which means about 50 more plays and 3 more formations to each playbook, encluding an authentic spread offense.

This alone has got me very excited.

That was the first time I played the NCAA series though, but I will defintely be sticking with it. If it will still have the Race for the Heisman, I will do the drills and see what team wants me, then go there. I'm not really partial to NCAA Football except to root on the underdogs.

I always have such a tough time picking someone to play with on Madden, even my favorite team I get bored with. With over 119 on NCAA there are so many choices and damn it is just so much more fun.

Now they also have more spring drills which include several of Madden's mini camps, not to mention the spring game and the playbooks. Damn I cant wait.

PS2 or Xbox to me will be much better than 360. If you simply want better graphics, go for 360. If you want more features and better gameplay, PS2 of Xbox. It's the first year for the game on 360 which is why I wouldnt touch it, next year will be another story though.

I just found a season in Race for the Heisman where I went 13-0 with Wyoming, yet we didn't get into the National Championship game. Oh, the winner of the National Championship was Texas Tech... one of my favorite teams in college football. How did they do that when I wasn't playing with them?

Im really stoked for this game. Ive got a 360 and the graphics look amazing. im more into the look and feel of the game, as long as it has good gameplay ill be fine. I dont have enough time on my hands to do the dynasties, i just do a season of Texas kinda like one game every other day.

2006 did have it's good, that is for sure.

There is someone at OperationSports who has been confirmed to have the game and has been answering questions for the PS2 version, so far it sounds like this could be the best game of the series, mixing together the good for each year and very little of the bad.

People have had the game for over a week, stores break the street date every year. Never a store like EB or Gamestop (same company), but in several areas Wal-Mart has been selling it early if you ask them to get it from the back.

I only have 14 hours until midnight so I am okay.

In the four minutes of gameplay the demo let me have I noticed some pluses and some minuses:

+The wide receivers will actually catch the ball if it's in the vicinity of them
+The graphics looked really good

-They kept the annoying playbook from NFL Street
-They overdid the shadowing so that the game is way too dark
-Game plays like ESPN NFL Football 2k5 and not previous NCAA games (and for that matter EA games)
-Took sprint off A and put it on the Right Trigger, made A Juke
-Crowd animations look really strange and almost annoying
-No Campus Legend (Race for the Heisman) for the 360

i actually wish more people had strategy guides in this game, then when you play online maybe the people will actually do real plays, whereas now most people pick Oklahoma, put the fastest player on the team at quarterback and the second fastest at halfback, and do nothing but options and direct snaps.

I noticed the receivers caugh both of my deep passes. It even liked slowed down to show em grabbing it.

One thing i don't like is on defense, there is only one button to scroll through players, and its only one direction. I like beinx able to to use X and O pre-snap to get the right player. Its minor, but its a nuisance.

There is a dynasty mode, but the Xbox version sounds really good, a lot better than the 360 version. I wish Microsoft actually made it so games were Backwards Compatible so I don't have to get out my Xbox everytime I want to play an old Xbox game.

campus legend seems cooler this year. you basically have a combine where you earn attribute points and then you get offers from schools, which is pretty sweet. It seems more in-depth. Not sure if I like it better than Dynasty mode, but I'll certainly give it a try.

2. By equipment you mean helmet, pads, neck roll, arm bands, etc.? Because in Campus legend you can edit that stuff...so it exists.

campus legend seems cooler this year. you basically have a combine where you earn attribute points and then you get offers from schools, which is pretty sweet. It seems more in-depth. Not sure if I like it better than Dynasty mode, but I'll certainly give it a try.

yeah, i know Madden was completely stripped down last year thats why I said at the end I was playing PS2.

It is also possible they took out some features on the dem though. Even though the menu would probably still show it and not let you click it :shrugs:

i really dont care how many modes are in the 360 version. i know other people like playing that stuff and playing season after season of games, but i really dont play enough to care about it, i just like playing one season and then i play online or with friends.

Down the road the next gen versions of NCAA and Madden will be outstanding, the issue with this years is that they built it from the ground up. They couldnt carry things over like they did from 06 to 07 on current gen.

I'm still torn... it would be an easier decision if my xbox didn't crap out on me when I try to play '06. It always says the disc is dirty or damaged and it isn't so my xbox just doesn't work well. And the gameplay is meh on the demo.

well, the slo-mo catching lets you actually do user catches more often. The kicking system will just take time to master, i agree I don't get why they changed it.

And every game is usually a blow out anyways, but the momentum does shift like mad. I'm down 7-0, (they have had one drive) and inside the 10...yet they ahve all the momentum.

i had heard awhile back that the game was gonna be made where teams and players that should blow out other teams and players will blow them out.

for example if you have a guard thats a 65 overall going up against a DT that's a 94 it wouldnt be a match.

Ok, i just played my first full game of NCAA 07 for the 360 ( i assume most dont have 360 ) but if you do, i strongly suggest picking it up. I only played one exibition game (#1 Ohio State @ #2 Texas) I was the Horns'. At first i was blown away by the amount of detail in the stadium. i havent played madden enough for the 360 before so ive never seen a football stadum look like that in a video game. it was amazing. the crowd was yelling "Texas Fight", it was overpoweing. I remember last year (for ps2) they had lee corso and the espn gang talk about the game but they didint seem to have any pregame in the new 360 version, at least not in the exibition games. The game started out and i kicked off (with that stick thing..wich i kinda liked). Ohio State started the game off with the ball, and before the snap they showed Troy Smith in the huddle, break the huddle, and walk to the line. Then it cuts to the line getting down in their stances, and back to Smith looking down the defence. I really enjoy that kind of thing, i love cutscenes and whatever makes me feel like im watching an actual game on tv instead of playing an arcade game. After 6 plays and only one 12 yard pass allowed, Ohio State punted and i got the ball. This was the big thing for me because gameplay is just as important as graphics, i played a demo of madden for the 360 adn the gameplay was netrocious. So when i saw Jevon Snead walk up to the line (in the same way Smith did before) i was praying for at least decent offensive gameplay. My first play was a halfback draw, and it went pretty smothley, i picked up 4 yards, they had a nice cutscene because a Ohio State player put a pretty good lick on me. My second play I went long and was plesently suprised to see no slugglish controls or players (ala madden). i made the big gain and the crowd went crazy. It felt like i was back in Darryil K. Royal again cheerin on the horns. I got my first glimpse of the momentum feature when I made my first INT and ran it in for a touchdown. I actually like it, it dosent seem to make things turn into a blowout, it just got the crowd really excited. I had a 21-10 lead at halftime, after a missed field goal (by about an inch) right before the half. There wasent any type of halftime thing like in nfl 2k5, but i didint really expect anything. I had an 11 point lead so there wasent that much excitment in the 3rd, just a few possesion changes, then in the fourth Ohio State got a touchdown and a 2 point conversion to make it a 3 point game with just under 2 min remaining. I went 3 and out, & had to punt. The crowd was going crazy yelling defence. (By this time it was dark, i started the game in the afternoon and it was just like the time that passes in a real game) i stoped them on the 30 yard line on 3rd and 3 making it 4th and inches, they went for the tying field goal. They cut to the defensive players looking at eacother calling signals and then the kicker sizing up the field goal. Then the kick was up wait i sneaked through and blocked the kick! one of the ohio state linemen landed on it and tried to run, but was taken down by a slew of burnt orange jerseys. I sat on the ball and the crowd was going crazy the whole time. It really was one of the best football games ive ever played. gameplay is great, graphics are amazing. Animations are really good too, not perfect but very good.
as for features its a little sparse, you can do dynasty and exibition along with some bonus games (bowling?) and training. I dont ever do any of those extra features so i dont really mind. All in all id give this game a 9 out of 10 SO FAR.
Im not sure if the current gen games are a little diffrent gameplay wise, but i was definitly plesantly suprised. if you have a 360 dont hesitate to buy this game!

No rosters are available yet, if you're looking for Xbox or 360 rosters you need Fairdale King's, if you're looking for PS2 you need Blacklovers. Both should be out soon, Blacklovers possibly on Thursday.

Go to the forums there, in the NCAA forum their threads are at the top of the page, great site with great sim ball players, not to mention you can get the rosters there when they come out, and updates. Plus if you need help anyone there can answer questions for you on the rosters.

Finally started a dynasty after several exhibition and online games, first game was fun to get things going, Iowa(me) vs. Montana.

59-0, I brought the second string in after halftime, Drew Tate had 189 yds, 4 TD, 0 INT's. Hopefully the next game will be more of a challenge, on All-American by the way.

haha i dont really follow college football. i actually kinda like penn state, since we get most of their games at school, i watch them on saturdays when nothing else is on. my one friend lovessss notre dame so ive grown to like most of their players too, esp. zmardja (sp?)

I wish the next-gen and current-gen games were similar, because I've played demos for both, and they're completely different, so it is hard to compare. But in the 360 demo I've already taken 3 TDs back to the house and blocked 3 kicks in about 8 games.

I think it has more to do with better professional teams are in the north.
