cool list, a lot of good songs. i'd probably put Comfortably Numb ahead of Stairway to Heaven for the guitar solo, but i do think that Stairway is the greatest rock 'n roll song of all time.
my sharona's solo better be on there. it's one of the few gutiar solos i give a shit about.
edit: lame, it's not :(

Great list..but..
Randy Rhodes' solo on Suicide Solution is amazing. It should be in the Top 10

Randy Rhode's was amazing.... God Bless his soul. Another one of Rock Music's many tragedies....

It was totally obvious that Stairway To Heaven was gonna be #1.

you disagree? i'm sure there are many reasons why it shouldn't be and i've heard them all, but they never ring true. the end of the song, starting with the guitar solo, is the most incredible piece of music i have ever heard in my life. haha, i have the poster with the "and there's a wind on down the road..." lyrics through "to be a rock and not to roll" with the four LZ symbols. great looking poster
anyways, what would be your vote for greatest rock 'n roll song ever?

Eruption is the greatest solo ever..
But I'm biased because I'm a big Van Halen fan, they're my favorite band. The top 3 should be 1. Eruption, 2. Stairway to Heaven, 3. Freebird

You are biased. Eruption is (literally) an unstructured improvised guitar piece. Someone basically told Halen to go into a room and make cool guitar noise for 5 minutes, and he did. Not to say it's not great, but StH is much better, thought out, and orginal.

the song is only a minute and a half long, and wouldn't the fact that it's improvised make it even more incredible? i don't know just my opinion. Though i agree STH is better

#71, Maggot Brain just under 10 1/2 minutes long and it's basically the same thing as eruption: one big guitar solo. i would imagine that this entire song is improvised as well

I don't get that either. Kurt Cobain is one of the worst guitarists I've ever heard.

Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit is on there. I prefer Lithium on their Nevermind album... but everybody only reconizes them for SLTS, so...
-and alot of guitarists that should be on that list are not. :/
