Sorry for weird title wording.
But what I mean is bands that lived in your town, went to your high school, or college. Two members of The Hush Sound went to my high school (also two ex- The Audition Members) but besides that, no one else really. What about you all?

Other than that, just the standard Nebraska bands like Bright Eyes, Cursive, and The Faint. Those are the most famous anyways.

No one really significant is from my town/went to my schools, outside of local bands who aren't really known outside of here (Fake ID/The Drive, Closer Than Kin, etc.). But screenwriter Brian Helgeland (Mystic River, LA Confidential, Taking of Pelham 123) and comic Jimmy Tingle (Boondock Saints) went to my college. Boys Like Girls started out in the town next door.

I'm in the same college as the sister of the Searle brothers of Architects UK.
Adrianne Verhoeven, Josh Berwanger, and Justin Roelof, all members of The Anniversary went to my HS. During my senior year, Josh Berwanger was a para for some disabled students, I even joked around with him a bit. Cool guy.
Lawrence, of course has The Get Up Kids...
a school in our district, no more than 5-10 mins away held members of Josephine Collective, they were signed to Warner Bros. and recorded with ole' John Feldmann... but were dropped a year ago for poor sales. Anyways, they were like the local scene kings/rockstars for a good while. It's fading now, though. Thank god.
John Nolan currently lives in Lawrence, he's originally from Long Island, I believe.
Also, the band Shooting Star were the first american act signed to Virgin Records. I thought that was pretty badass. They are from the city where I reside.
That's all I can think of now... I'm pretty sure there is more, though.

Quite a few. The Format happened about 5 minutes away from me and I worked with a guy that knew them all and told me stories about them and why they broke up and such (Nate Ruess is a complete asshole, by the way), Jimmy Eat World happened about 20 minutes away, a friend of mine's mom works with Jim's brother, she got his older brother signed Bleed American stuff when it was coming out and all that jazz.
Jaryd Bayless (I believe that's the spelling) was going to go to my high school when I was in 7th grade, and he was going to be a Freshmen I believe or something like that, but our coach left JUST before the season happened, so, no go.
My dad and Alice Cooper grew up together.

Well, I in no way doubt this guy, one of the most legit dudes I ever knew.
Nate disrespected a lot of people, all the time. Something leading up to their break up went something to the extent of one of the guitarists for The Format (NOT SAM) was getting annoyed with a guy in Steel Train and didn't like him. He told Sam about it, and Sam relayed it to Nate, and when they stopped at a truck stop in the middle of no where, to get food and fill up the bus and whatever, Nate either left the guy there and told the driver to take off or they legit kicked him out of the bus, and Sam had to convince him to go back and get him. I guess that was a final straw of sorts.
He told me a bunch of stuff. He went to school with all of them and he knew every person they ever talked about in the songs. I wish I still knew that guy, he knew so many people around here and had so many sick stories.

I wish I still knew that guy, he knew so many people around here and had so many sick stories.
wow crazy ha thanks, always kind of pictured him as sort of a douche but wow, still love the band though

That guy also told me about meeting James Dewees in the bathroom of a venue around here, and he was in the stall next to his snorting coke and James was just talking like it was no big deal, and eventually gave my friend his number, and I guess they kept talking for awhile after that.

Hmm. Bon Iver is from (sort of) around where I live. So is The Promise Ring and I believe Patrick Stump, although I'm not too sure about that one.
Edit: Somehow I forgot about Les Paul, also sort of near me.

I heard it was more because Nate was such a perfectionist/kinda anal (this from a band that toured with the Format at the end of their run). But I suppose no one who wasn't actually involved really knows everything that went down.
Anyway, AFI's from here (where I grew up)...there are too many bands from the Bay proper to list, though. Brian Posehn went to my high school

Since you're from Mahopac, NY and Gone Baby Gone came from Massachusetts I can safely assume you did not go to high school with Cash Cash.
They went to West Essex in New Jersey.
No but they played a show at my school home coming game. I seem to have made a mistake
The Starting Line are from around here. Valencia too I think.

Lucky Boys Confusion. And Fall Out Boy started in a suburb not too far from the one I lived in. I remember seeing them play at a YMCA (or some community center) with like 20 people
That would have been cool to see. Were they good back then?

My dad went to high school with Janis Joplin and former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson.
We got ZZ Top and The Big Bopper though.

The only band that came from my school district is Last Conservative. I don't even know if they're still making music but they played at my middle school like 5 years ago and signed autographs in the lunchroom. They were every kids favorite band for like 2 days.. Then no one cared.

They were pretty raw. I remember commenting to my friend that Pete looked so uncomfortable at bass. At this show he stared at the fretboard and his fingers exclusively like a beginner would to make sure they try and hit all the right notes. During each song, I don't think he looked up once
That's pretty incredible about FOB.
Each band has to start somewhere, I was lucky to see them at such an intimate venue

I guess I can understand that. Before I get up on stage, my worst fear is hitting a wrong note. I play lead guitar not bass though, so my mistakes would be more noticeable. It's funny because he's still like that now when he plays. He's pretty focused on hitting all the right notes when he plays.

But his family basically owns our town.

Haha yeah, I had no idea until my dad told me one day when it came on the radio. He was like, "You know, the bassist of this band graduated 2 years ahead of me.."
As far as modernity, not many bands to come from my high school. It's a small, private school in Pittsburgh. A Week In July's drummer went there, though. They were really good, but never played much outside of city limits. They're long over, too.

I don't think there's anyone who graduated from my high school but apparently Aerosmith used to play in our gymnasium a lot back ten years or so before I was born. Townie teachers talked about it all the time.
Not a musician but Andy Hallett(RIP) who played Lorne/the green dude on Angel went to my college.
Absolutely no credible musicians are from Cincinnati. Peter Frampton lives here if you count that...
